TMI - Sex - Could this be SPD/PGP related

I had SPD in my first pregnancy but it was in my hips and at the front of my pelvic bone.

This time I have been having discomfort literally right between legs, particularly on the side I had episiotomy 7 years ago. (I have had two pregnancies since) The issue flares up if I've been on my feet/walking an extreme amount, or after sex. Once it's flared up I can barely do anything without feeling this pain and a really heavy feeling. All I can do is rest and it dies down to a dull ache all centred around my scar. It feels like it comes from my bone and my muscle around it is in spasm, and sometimes makes my butt bone hurt.

I've checked and although everything feels swollen its not.

I have had midwives and doctors check me over and everything to them looks OK both inside and out.

Google suggests SPD but this is not what it felt like the first time when it felt like my hips were being pushed apart from the inside and splitting the bone at the front.

Just wondering if anyone has had similar

Didn’t want to read and run. I’m sorry I have not experienced this. It does sound like you need to revisit your doctor to review this, though. All the best

Yes it sounds to me like it could be PGP. I would suggest seeing a private physio as NHS dont offer much help for PGP.

I didn't know it could feel like this. It felt so different when I was diagnosed last time.

I have the midwife tomorrow so will discuss it all with her again, but funny feeling ill be told to just do some exercises and suck it up.

I couldn't read and run, I'm currently signed off work with PGP, what you describe is very similar to how I have felt - I'm currently 36w, I also had an episiotomy in my last pregnancy and the scar definitely aches and feels swollen too, especially now baby is engaged and head down and putting more pressure on me! I would advise you look at the Pelvic Partnership. They've been a massive help for me, they have a list of "approved" health care professionals near and in your local area who will do manual therapy to help with pain management, it's helped me alot. But their Facebook and Instagram have a fountain of knowledge and help in regards to PGP/SPD!

First time mum and I have similar. Tried to explain to midwife that it didn't feel like bones or muscles but my flesh there hurts? It feels like my vulva is swollen and a lot of pressure. Just keep getting told 'normal'

Thank you. Its nice not to feel alone although I wish we didn't both have this horrible symptom!

I will take a look into that.

I now wonder if it actually was PGP last time, or something else. Guess I'll never know. At midwife tomorrow so will mention it (again)

Super annoying that normal comment as it makes you feel brushed off... Definitely keep at them if the issue if bothering you.
