Worried about baby

Happynappy1 · 24/08/2024 18:48

Waters went a few weeks ago so being induced early in 2 weeks. Baby is a strong mover normally and loves to hurt me with his kicks. I had some reduced movement last week but after being checked out all was ok and he started moving around loads. Today he hasn’t moved had some small moment early Hours of this morning. I’ve gone into be checked and baby is all ok he only moved slightly once while I was being monitored. He’s still not moved this evening midwife said baby is all ok and even checked with the doctor. I’m guessing he’s just having a quiet day but I’m struggling with worry as I’m used to him physically hurting me with his kicks. If he hasn’t moved by tomorrow morning I will call again has anyone else experienced this

How many weeks are you today?

Loolapallooozah · 24/08/2024 18:50

I would go back again tonight tbh. At my hospital the policy was they'd admit you if you (the mum) felt movement was still less than usual, and they'd also scan you.

Kosenrufugirl · 24/08/2024 18:51

And when did you last have a growth scan?

justhataye · 24/08/2024 18:52

Hi, OP. I can see why you're quite concerned

Your waters went a few weeks ago? And the hospital isn't concerned? You are at a VERY high risk of infection most hospitals will want to deliver your baby within 48 hours of your waters breaking.

How far along are you OP?

Most hospitals will wait until 37 weeks when baby is considered full term. Unless there are other risk factors

Tonight37 · 24/08/2024 18:54

Agree OP this sounds odd. I assume you had a scan?

Alifemadelessordinary · 24/08/2024 18:55

Go back tonight please! Anything out of the ordinary should be checked.

Mummyboy1 · 24/08/2024 19:08

Definitely go back tonight. Baby still isn't moving like normal.

Happynappy1 · 24/08/2024 19:21

I’m 35 weeks in being induced at 37 weeks having weekly blood tests and scans every 2 weeks. They put me on the Fetal heart monitor and baby was all ok with his heart etc.

I asked the midwife about reduced movement and she said baby was all ok

sel2223 · 24/08/2024 19:22

Never feel put off going in for reduced movements just because it was OK earlier that day or your worried they'll think you're a pest etc.
This is your baby and you can't take any chances!
I was actually invited in for daily monitoring by the end of my pregnancy as I'd had so many episodes of reduced movements in the third trimester - I got pre eclampsia and, sure enough, she had stopped growing. My planned section ended up being brought forward and she's now a healthy 4 year old.
Don't risk it.

Happynappy1 · 24/08/2024 19:23

I will call back later if I still haven’t felt anything I only came out at 5 from being checked

When was your last growth scan and have they checked your blood pressure today? Don't hesitate to go back tonight if the movements are markedly reduced

Umpteentimesnow · 24/08/2024 19:27

My suggestion is to go back and refuse to leave. I really don't want to worry you and I'm sure all will be ok, but this happened to someone I know and the baby was still born which was so traumatic, she was full term and should have been induced the day before.

Happynappy1 · 24/08/2024 19:29

Growth scan was just under 2 weeks ago blood pressure heart rate and temp where all normal. Going to have my dinner and see after if I feel anything.

When my waters went and it had been over 48 hours they admitted me straight away and induced me. If they aren’t delivering yet I’m assuming you are being very closely watched?

wlv12 · 24/08/2024 19:51

Midwife here - please ring and go back if you’re not happy with movements. Even if you’ve been seen today, ring back.

The best indicator that your baby is well is regular movements. You have a risk factor in your PROM and the reduced movements. I’d want you admitting for regular monitoring if you remained unhappy with movements and a plan from consultant x

Happynappy1 · 24/08/2024 21:52

He’s moved for a couple of minutes not as much as he normally would but going to asses his movements and see if he moves again

WickWood · 25/08/2024 09:51

Hi OP, how have you got on? Did you go back to hospital?

Happynappy1 · 25/08/2024 10:58

I went back this morning as his movements stopped after last night’s 2 minute session. He moved once while on the machine. Baby is all ok inside me. Asked the midwife and she said baby not moving isn’t normal if he’s been moving loads everyday normally but that baby is all ok. They said they could keep me in for obvs if it reassures me or I could go home. I’ve gone home as I only live 3 minutes from the hospital and will go in if he carry’s on like this. Eaten some nice breakfast and off for a short walk later to see if the fresh air and walk helps.

WickWood · 25/08/2024 11:57

I'm glad you went back to get checked. Glad you enjoyed your breakfast, defo go back after your walk if things haven't improved! X

sel2223 · 25/08/2024 12:06

Pleased all was OK when checked, if things still don't seem right, go again.
Once a day, 5 times a day, it doesn't matter.....trust your instinct

Happynappy1 · 25/08/2024 20:45
