Worried about potential missed infection?

I had some yellow discharge about 3/4 weeks ago, not a lot but enough to notice, my first midwife appointment was the following week so I mentioned it there. She said not to worry and if there were any issues it would show up in the urine test.
I heard nothing and subsequently looked at my notes on the app, all clear. However it’s suddenly got a lot worse there has been a bit the last few days and today I’ve had constant yellowy/brown discharge all day and a lot of it.

I usually don’t google but I’m now worried as it says an infection can cause harm to the baby if left untreated which I’m guessing it has been now for weeks ! It also said a swab would be needed. I’m wondering why this wasn’t done originally when I told her about the yellow discharge. Are all infections picked up from a urine sample or should she have swabbed at first appointment?

I’m really stressed out about it and feeling so guilty about leaving it but I thought it was all fine after the urine sample came back clear.
Can anyone put my mind at ease? Obviously will be ringing first thing tomorrow.

Hey lovely, yeah definitely ring up today to check with your midwife. How many weeks are you?

I'm 23 weeks and was having super yellow discharge the other day and got the EOU to do various internal swabs to check for infections or thrush etc. Your local midwife could do a swab or they may recommend going upto your local hospital midwife to do a swab.

@T2024 thanks so much for replying. I’m only 12 weeks so been getting super worried it would cause baby some damage. I rang my midwife this morning but she wasn’t available so ended up going to the doctors as I didn’t want to leave it any longer. She was super helpful and thinks it’s thrush, she said it’s probably hormonal.
Hope you’re ok now too!

Ah that's great, I'm glad you got some advice! As far as discharge goes, whitish yellow has always been the normal for me in pregnancy anyways! Some days it's more yellow than others.

Midwife thinks it's thrush with me too, but waiting on swab just to be sure 😊
