Hi everyone,

This is my first preganncy, I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and my stomach has become really hairy since and it seems to be getting thicker, is this normal?

strange things happen when your pregnant like weird dreams and after birth your hair falls out a lot.Its so odd everyone is different though

Butterflyfern · 22/08/2024 11:02

Mine too, my belly's a fuzzy peach!

This happened to me and my mam said it would be a boy... it was! Something to do with the male hormones.

Same here, it's not dark hair but I've noticed a lot of like peach fuzz. Hopefully it goes away after pregnancy..do not want shaving my stomach to be part of my beauty routine 😄

If your baby is a boy this can happen. It does go away after birth - well it did for me. :)

Interesting! I have heard some women who have had girls have it too so will have to wait and see!

Testosterone levels increase during pregnancy - this will be the cause independent of the baby's sex. Some women also note increased body hair growth mid cycle around ovulation when testosterone peaks (causing the heightened libido).

Yeah, it might have nothing to do with having boys - my midwife said it was but I don’t have any evidence behind it - but it was true for me!

HopefulllHolly · 22/08/2024 14:56

Haha I noticed this on me today! I’m covered in peach fuzz blond hair on my belly. Mines a girl though so I think that’s an old wives tale!

sirensong · 22/08/2024 15:12

Midwives are fantastic on practicalities but don't necessarily know the science deeply. Granted nor do doctors. I asked a registrar a question at my last appointment and they said it was impossible to say. In fact that isn't true and I was able to find the answer online - including on NHS pages.

Happened to me when I was pregnant with my son, was so bad my partner nicknamed me yeti 🤣 thankfully I didn't get as hairy with my girls

😄 tell us it stopped after giving birth

TripleESept24 · 22/08/2024 22:20

I'm having a girl and have it!!! Peach fuzzy blonde hair all over!!

LegoHouse274 · 22/08/2024 22:30

Yes, this happened to me. It started in pregnancy one, did not go away, got even worse in pregnancy 2. I'm on pregnancy three and I don't think it's got worse but I'm not sure as I am now well used to removing the hair so wouldn't leave it to see. The same thing happened with my hair greying quickly each time, and I'm only 30.

LegoHouse274 · 22/08/2024 22:30

Oh and I have one of each sex and don't know this baby's sex.

Ooooo my hair has gone well grey this pregnancy! I've had to get my hair done so many times!! I'm 38 and it's never been as bad as it is!

hardtocare · 22/08/2024 23:09

Yep, I've heard this is common with boys. All my hair stopped growing completely when pregnant and I had girls
