Tonsillitis early pregnancy

I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant and have tonsillitis, I’ve been to the Dr and have been prescribed antibiotics to take. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had tonsillitis in early pregnancy and if everything was ok?

The Dr didn’t really tell me much in terms of the effects on the pregnancy!

Do you mean is it safe to have the antibiotics? As long as your doctor knew about the pregnancy then you'll be fine.

I got appendicitis in pregnancy and also had a really bad tooth issue which got infected so was on antibiotics twice, once through an IV and the other tablet form. My daughter is now a healthy 4 year old.

There are lots of different antibiotics which are safe in pregnancy and won't cause any harm to your baby

If you are worried about the fever side of things just stay hydrated and keep taking paracetamol. I really feel for you, I've had tonsillitis numerous times and it's awful.

I had bronchitis during my first pregnancy and was prescribed antibiotics and all was fine. If they weren't safe your doctor wouldn't give them to you.

Assuming your doctor knew you’re pregnant, it’s fine to take antibiotics. I’d give it a couple of days though, as tonsillitis often gets better on its own, and it’s better if your body can fight infection itself.i used to get tonsillitis a lot, and when I stopped taking antibiotics for it, I’d stopped getting it.
