Hi ladies,

This is my first pregnancy and I am suffering my third water infection in less than 4 months into pregnancy. The 3 times I have been given by GP antibiotics. Today I finished my 7 day and after lunch I started to feel pain while went to the loo. So, I guess it's not gone completely. It stopped while taking the pills but came back as soon as I finished them.

Is it normal? I only had once a water infection some years ago. Normally I doesn't happen to me. Is because of pregnancy? Is it good to take so many antibiotics for the baby? I try to drink as much as possible and still I'm back to it.

Many thanks.

I was the same in my 2nd pregnancy. I was on antibiotics for roughly 10 weeks altogether. If it keeps coming back you should be referred to a urogynae according to NICE guidelines. I had repeated prescriptions of nitrofurantoin but in the end it was a 4 week low dose course of cefalexin that the urogynae prescribed that finally shifted it.
