Eye problems in late pregnancy

Hey guys, currently 36 weeks and I’m started recently having vision problems such like black floaty dots and lights?? I heard it common for to have visual problems with problems but I’ve also heard it’s linked to preeclampsia, however I have recently been checked by my midwife and my blood pressure and urine test is fine. Has anybody else had this?

Yes I had it frequently in the third trimester, and it carried on until around 8 months post pregnancy, I think for me it was hormone related, it doesn't happen anymore. However, every time it did happen I went in to get checked as a precaution

Always worth getting flashing lights and floaters checked out. Contact an opticians and get seen sooner rather than later. I work in an opticians. I can’t comment about them in pregnancy though

My migraines started in late pregnancy, I very rarely get the headache but would get blind spots, black and white flashing lights etc. I still get them now, 8 years later. If everything else is normal and it only lasts a few hours it may be worth googling visual migraines.

Do get checked again even if you feel like you’re pestering the midwife. Preeclampsia can come on very suddenly in late pregnancy so they should keep a close eye on you (no pun intended!). Best of luck.
