Trying to conceive baby 4

Hi everyone

This is my first time posting..yey 👋😄 this is a bit long so please bare with me 😂

We have 3 children (12, 9 and 4) our first 2 children were conceived in tbe first month of trying and our last it took 2 months. I was 32 when I fell pregnant with my last. We were incredibly lucky to fall.pregnant so fast and have 3 straight forward births.

I am 37 now and we are ttc baby number 4. I've found this time around has been more difficult. We have been trying for almost 9 months and I miscarried in may. I do have health anxiety so I'm.covinced something is wrong 😩🤦🏼‍♀️

I have gained weight since having my last ( currently 15stone) and I am older now. My doctor told us to keep trying (they won't really do much untill it's been over a year) and to loose weight but I'm just worried and blaming myself.

Has anyone else experienced this this? Again I know how truly lucky we are to have our 3 babies, I just want some advice as I've always wanted a big family and scared something is wrong.

I said no because it's not silly it's valid how you feel. Just a bit of background it took us 13 months to conceive our 3rd when I was 35... And then 1 month when I was 38 but unfortunately miscarried may 23, then took another 3 months to get our fourth and she was born April. I was convinced I was starting early menopause and there was something wrong with me, it for me so stressed and down my periods started being weird. I decided only way to save my mental health was to relax.... I walked the beach every night, totally chilled...and conceived that month! X

Thank you 🥹 it's so nice to hear that as most of my family/friends say I'm being silly and be thankful for the children I have which of course I am!

Thank you so much for the message ❤️ I think you are completely right about mental health, I need to relax more! 🫶

Oh yeah don't worry I heard exactly the same thing...like you're not grateful for your children! Just because you have children doesn't mean you cant long for more, nobody thinks before they speak 🙄 but yes I would if I was you obviously still track ovulation so you can time it right but just relax and have fun and try not to think there's anything wrong with you coz there most likely isn't but with age it can take slightly longer which is normal. Best of luck x

I'm 35 and it has taken 10 months (including a miscarriage and chemical pregnancy) to achieve my pregnancy with a normal BMI so I'd say your experience is not out of the ordinary.
Best of luck in working towards your future goals!

Aww congrats on your pregnancy! I don't think my health anxiety helps tbh. Like @Kellyaust said I'm just going to try and relax and what will be will be!

Thank you ladies for the advice, j feel better already 🥰

I just had my 1st at 37 and took me 2 years to convince but the problem turned out to be my partners sperm lucky he was able to turn it around with diet / lifestyle charges and supplements but don't just straight to assuming you are the problem if there is one at all . I would start taking high strength coq10 zita west so a good one for both of you and selenium and zinc for him. Cut out excess caffeine and if possible completely cut out alcohol for a while.

Peonies12 · 04/08/2024 19:00

You might get more suggestions if you post on Conception board. But your experience sounds pretty common. Do consider whether it’s even worth pursuing testing with GP if it does get to 1 year, as you won’t qualify for IVF anyway. Best to try lifestyle improvements like losing weight, cut alcohol and caffeine, healthy diet. It’s taken us 2 years to be pregnant with number 1, including 1 miscarriage, and I’m only 32, and a healthy BMI.

Yeah the doctor did say something similar!

Thank you I will look into those supplements. I've just been on Google actually seeing if there's anything I can take. Wee trip to Holland and Barrett tomorrow ☺️ I've alsp been taking my folic acid everyday.

We don't actually drink alcohol but yeah defo cut back on the caffeine.

Thank you for your advice also ❤️

@Mamaof3xxx if you watch fab and ell on YouTube they did a video on what they did and took to get pregnant really helped me it's pretty much what I've told you but worth a watch as they had really bad results and conceived twins naturally

Oh I didn't think about that actually. I'm so new to this mumsnet thing 😊 I can understand why parents/guardians use it though, I've had a few replies and feeling better already 🥹

Yeah I'm definitely trying to cut out the junk food and have less caffeine.

Thank you ❤️

I think it’s totally normal for it to take longer when you’re older. I had my first three really easily (conceived on approx. second month of trying) but it took us 15 months with number 4 (currently pregnant, conceived at 37).
I had a private scan after about 9 months of trying, which revealed I had a uterine polyp that was probably preventing implantation. I had it removed a few months later and then conceived a couple of months after that.

MixedCouple2 · 04/08/2024 22:03

It took me 0 months to conceive DS1 I was 34 years old.

It might be your busy schedule and commitments to work and other kids that hinder you I.e stress of life.
