Light brown discharge at 5w6d, worried after 2 previous MCs

Hi everyone,

Just looking for hopefully some reassurance. I’m 5w6d going off my LMP, so super early. Friday afternoon at around 3pm after going to the toilet I noticed there was a slight pink tinge to the toilet roll. Then stopped then noticed again at 5pm. Spoke to the GP who sorted me an urgent referral to the EPU and I have a scan on Tuesday. Yesterday only once noticed some really light brown discharge. However today there’s more. It’s not excessive and is mixed with normal discharge, I’m just so worried and can’t decide if I should be going to the hospital sooner? The GP said to go to a&e if it got worse but I think that was if it turns to red blood and/or I have pain? The other thing is I had lower back ache Friday but no pain since

Just back from the scan now and unsure what to make of it. I’m meant to be 6w1d today going off LMP. Scan showed a sac with a yolk sac measuring 5 weeks. They’ve said as it’s so early they can’t say either way. The nurse seemed a bit optimistic and said I could I have ovulated a little later and isn’t an exact science. They’ve taken more bloods to see if my hcg is rising and I need to ring back for the result tonight. If my result is rising think I’ll be scanned in 10days. If not I presume I’ll be re scanned again anyway and go from there, that’s what’s happened in my previous MCs.
My heads a bit scrambled, I want to keep a bit of hope but also don’t want to get my hopes up.
So sorry to hear your bleeding has increased😔 they haven’t said anything about why I might be bleeding now as I still am. Hope your holding up okay and managed to speak with to your GP x

@Steffi12 Ok well 1 week isn't too far behind, there is defini still hope there. Even if you'd ovulated say 3 days later than you thought then that's only a few days difference. My bleeding seems to have slowed now, I don't feel I have passed anything that resembles the pregnancy or sac etc. Just like a normal medium/heavyish period. So maybe things hadn't developed much at all and I would have been very disappointed at a scan if they had got me in before this happened. Or maybe it will pick up again soon? Hate the not knowing just want this over now xx

@CharlotteRae aww thank you. So my hcg was 1890 when I rang for it, meaning it’s has risen but they wanted it to double so hasn’t risen as much as they’d like and I’m going for another blood test tomorrow. My bleeding is a bit heavier today and has also turned red now.
The other curveball which I did know from my first MC is that I have a bicornate uterus. I haven’t bled in either of my other pregnancies like this but there is potential I’m bleeding from the side which doesn’t have the pregnancy in it. Rang the nurse in the EPU who said to go in if it gets worse otherwise the doctor will examine me again tomorrow. They haven’t made a plan about any more scans yet.
I’m so sorry you’re in this limbo, it’s like no man’s land and just awful!! Can’t believe the EPU are making you wait until Monday, it’s torture! Hope you’re holding up okay xx

It's risen though and that's a huge positive so focus on that. What are you test lines like on home pregnancy tests? X

Aww thank you! I must admit I was expecting it to have stayed the same or fallen how things were looking so was pleasantly surprised, even if it hadn’t gone up as much as they hoped.

I actually haven’t taken any more tests, maybe I should. But I’ve lost a little faith after I actually took a clear blue digital on the morning before I went to the hospital the first time and it said 3+. Clear blue states the hcg threshold for that is 2753. However when I got my bloods back it was 1195. I did use FMU but did give me a false sense of security as I thought my blood result would have been similar xx

Ah okay, yes probably steer clear of them then and leave the testing to the medics through blood tests. At least you know they're accurate and reliable. Aw I hope all turns out well for you. I've got everything crossed for you. Keep us posted xxx

@Steffi12 fingers crossed for you they keep rising! So I caved today and went for a private scan as my bleeding stopped and I knew I hadn't passed anything pregnancy related. Sonographer was really thorough, took ages with me, and is concerned that she saw what could be a gestational sac attached to my c section scar which is a rare type of ectopic. She did urgent referral to EPu who have booked me in tomorrow morning instead of Monday x

Yes I probably will, although even just waiting the 48hrs seem to take forever 🙈

Morning ladies, just wanted to check in and ask how you both are and how things are going?

No real updates from me, third hcg was 2149, again a rise but even slower this time so preparing for the worst, I’ve got another scan on Thursday xx

Aw it's such a worrying time isn't it? I have everything crossed for you. There is a good chance that all will be okay and healthy and although the rise isn't as you'd expect, it is rising and that's a positive xx I bled for about 4 days, it's confusing as it was lighter than my regular period and normally lasts longer. I did a test and got a very faint line. I assumed the line would have been darker by then so figured id lost the pregnancy. I am wondering whether to test again tomorrow but also thinking I'm clinging on to hope that isn't there.

Thank you so much ❤️ it is so confusing and worrying. My bleeding started up again this weekend which I found upsetting but seems to have stopped again now.

I’m sorry to hear about the tests being fainter than you expected, I’ve read countless threads looking into my own hcg levels and have seen people say the urine tests can be so variable. They also have the hook effect where the hcg is too high so reads fainter could that be a reason?
Are you being seen by your early pregnancy unit at all? I’ve got everything crossed for good news for you xx

@Steffi12 it’s such a worrying time, I’ve also had brown spotting around the same time and how my MC started last time. It’s annoying never knowing why but at least your HcG is increasing. Are you having more blood tests before your scan?

Hi ladies, sorry I’ve been a bit off the radar it’s been a tough week. Sadly my pregnancy did end in miscarriage earlier this week😓
