What baby movements feel like?

Hi, I hope everyone is enjoying / surviving the heat!

I’m coming up to 26 weeks with an anterior placenta and been feeling what I think is movements for a few weeks. They feel almost like muscle twitches, like what you might get in your leg or eye, and as the weeks have gone on they’ve started to feel bigger and stronger and I feel it sometimes on the outside of my belly.

are these kicks? Im a FTM and no idea if this is what they should feel like! Anyone else? I’ve not had the butterflies /flutters sensation at all, but sometimes i feel a squirming sensation ☺️

I also have an anterior placenta. I didn’t feel any butterflies/flutters at all. The first time I definitely felt mine kick was when my husband could feel it from the outside! I think it sounds like you’re feeling movement which is so exciting!

@HEIHEI23 how many weeks are you now? That’s so exciting!
what did that first kick feel like? I really hope these twitchy movements that have gradually got bigger are definitely baby or I’ll feel a bit silly 😂

I’m 31! I first felt kicks at end of 20th week but my placenta is low down so I only felt them above. It definitely feels like a twitch or a flick rather than butterflies which was what I was looking for. Now, the baby looks like he’s making a break for freedom everyday 😂😂

Definitely sounds like it's baby movements you can feel. My early movements (19-20 weeks) were a bit like being tapped on the belly from the inside - I got the fluttering sensation too but didn't really have the sensation of bubbles or anything like that that some of the advice says it might feel like. A few weeks later I started to get bigger movements and ones where I could see nlmy belly move from the outside. I'm nearly 32 weeks now and definitely get more indistinct general movements now as if baby is twisting or squirming around, and not as many big kicks.

I would definitely say that a muscle twitch type feeling is a good way to describe many of the baby movements I feel. I'm sure that's what you're getting!

RedRobyn2021 · 01/08/2024 19:51

It feels like pulsating to me, or someone tapping/stroking me from the inside

Mine started as feeling a bit like muscle twitches. From there it just got stronger and stronger over the weeks.

I'm FTM too and the way you describe them here is exactly how I described them to another FTM! She started noticing them the next day.

Thanks everyone! It’s so good to hear these twitchy / pulsing feelings have been felt by others too, I thought I was imagining it all.

I had an anterior placenta with my first and only ever felt a very faint flutter or twitch, and I had to be lying still and quiet to tune in to it.
She's now 4
