I am measuring 7+1 today which is exactly what I should be but the private scan didn’t detect heartbeat. She said she was sorry and booked me an appointment atvthe EPAU tomorrow. I can’t understand if baby is measuring exactly to the day how can the heartbeat not be there. Does that mean my baby’s heart stopped today ? I’m heartbroken . Could it be wrong xxx

Yeah this was a private internal scan. The baby measured exactly to the day but no heartbeat. She had a good look, I just can’t understand it x

It’s usual not to see a heartbeat at 7 weeks. I really hope you get some reassurance tomorrow, try to stay positive xx

Hi I don’t want to scare you and hope everything turns out good for you 🤞 But I had this at the weekend went for a private scan was meant to be 11.5 weeks and was only measuring 8 weeks and no heartbeat. Unfortunately mines ending in a missed miscarriage I thought they had made a mistake but unfortunately not :( Had you seen the heartbeat before this private scan? As sometimes it could be to early x

I know in my heart it’s gone. I just felt it was coincidental as I am 7+1 today and measuring 7+1. So it’s heartbreaking that the baby’s heart must of stopped at some point today. I can’t see how it would be a mistake. I saw the embryo there was no heartbeat and she saw no activity (the red and blue scan bit). It’s going to be heartbreak again tomorrow when they scan to confirm again. I’m 39 and just feel like it’s not going to happen x

I had a scan at 7+ 3 baby looked like a peanut and had the strongest heartbeat that was obvious. Couldn't be missed.
Was the sonographer properly qualified? It's usual for you to be the size you're meant to be but no heart beat 😬

Are we actually blaming the sonographer now? If they weren't qualified, they wouldn't be working there. I'm sorry but what an odd comment.....

Sorry you're going through this OP.

Your not alone 😢 I know it’s so heartbreaking 💔 but don’t be to hard on yourself. I was the same saw the baby a few weeks before even heard the heartbeat and then my baby must have passed a day or 2 after the private scan. Never say never I’m praying for you that it will happen 🙏 x

i don’t dis believe the sonographer I’m saying they couldn’t find the heart beat because I am assuming the baby’s heart stopped beating. The baby was very clear but the heartbeat wasn’t there.

I’m heartbroken I had a chemical last cycle now this. I don’t even want another scan to be told again. I now have this huge disconnect and just want the baby out. My symptoms are still so strong so it's so confusing. To measure the day of the scan without a heartbeat is just horrific. Like I may of missed them by minutes. I don’t know how to recover x

Sorry you're going through this OP.

The sonographers at private scan clinics arnt as regulated as the NHS. Essentially anybody can buy a scanner and call themselves a sonographer without being qualified, although that would be very unusual and extreme!

Sending hugs OP, I hope you have good support around you 💐

Thank you. The sonographer was a consultant nurse and sonographer so she is definitely qualified. I just have had bad luck.

not sure I want to put myself through this again x

I wasent doubting the sonographer, my comment was in response to somebody else.

However, scans are not always accurate and it can also depend on the machine. I don’t want to give you false hope of course but please wait for your appointment tomorrow before committing yourself to any misery.
