Can sudden shock/fright harm the baby?

I know there are lots of articles and things saying stress and shock cannot harm a baby. But I can’t find anything to say if like a little fright can have any effect. I’m talking things like my dog jumping down from a high surface, which made my heart jump. I scare fairly easily so things make me jump/make my heart stop for a second or beat quickly pretty often!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Of course not. Humanity would have died out pretty quickly if that were possible

Letsgotitans · 31/07/2024 19:47

In a word, no.

clearmoon · 31/07/2024 19:48

no

SugarandSpiceandAllThingsNaice · 31/07/2024 19:49

Nope. Can’t hurt baby.

Thank you- sorry I know it’s probably a silly question. I am very anxious as have had 2 miscarriages in a row before this pregnancy.

No, it'll be fine. How far along are you in this pregnancy?

I get how you're anxious. I had two miscarriages too before having my youngest.

It’s not silly, tons of fictional books and films perpetuate the myth so that probably planted the thought in your head.

I’m 17w2 today, thought I’d be less anxious by now but apparently not! I felt what I thought was movement yesterday but nothing today so I’m also paranoid about that 🤦🏻‍♀️ can’t win x

Of course not. Women have pregnancies in war zone and in other horrendous situations. If anything could cause a miscarriage it would be well known. And you’re unlikely to have movement at 17 weeks

You're motoring now! If this is your first baby, you mightn't feel movement for a couple of weeks or more. Hope all continues to go well x

My lovely mum died completely unexpectedly when I was pregnant, and the shock/grief was obviously all-encompassing. Baby was totally healthy.
