Am I experiencing a chemical pregnancy?

I was 6 days late on my period. I tested this morning and got a faint positive. As the day has gone on I have started to bleed. Bright red blood, not particularly heavy but more than just spotting.

how do I know if I’m experiencing a chemical pregnancy or if my pregnancy is continuing?

what do I need to do now?

Hi OP. I'm sorry, but if the bleeding continues and feels like your normal period, then it may well be a chemical. You'll know for sure if you test a couple of days later.

I had a chemical myself, back in December. I was riding high on positive feelings about my pregnancy test. I went to work, and about 2 hours in I started getting pretty bad cramps. Then the bleeding started, and it turned out to be quite a heavy period.

Did you use FMU to test?
If period is 6 days late and you know ovulation date on time then the faint positive can be a sign of a chemical as would expect your levels to be higher and therefore a clear line.

You can have bleeds without it being a chemical but this generally stops. If it continues and gets heavier then likely chemical. Unfortunately your only going to know with time, it's too early for scans. If you stop then in a few days take another test using FMU.

Forgive me but what is FMU?

I’ve got an appointment this morning for a scan

First morning urine - it's when HCG will be at its highest as concentrated overnight which is what makes a test positive

Good luck, @Holiday16, I hope all goes well x

Are you still bleeding OP or stopped?

You can have haemorrhages which cause bleeding but pregnancy can continue. Unfortunately only time will tell to if its a chemical or not.
If your having a scan its worth checking that it's not an ectopic as this can also show as faint positive with bleeding etc.

They decided not to scan me because they did a test and it said negative. So they let me go home.
