Can’t stop eating sugar

I never had a sweet tooth before pregnancy but I’m currently 24 weeks and I literally cannot stop eating sugary food. Multiple bowls of cereal a day is my worst one. I wake up thinking about choco shells and Honey Nut Cheerios and I can’t stop thinking about it until I eat them 🤣
i haven’t gained any weight yet and baby is all good as far as we know at this point but it has been playing on my mind. I know the recommendation is 30g of sugar a day and I’m definitely eating more than that. I have had low blood pressure since becoming pregnant so I don’t know if that could have something to do with it?
any of you women out there struggled with bad cravings? Should I be worried?

Yeah I had this in pregnancy. I would make myself first have a more healthy sweet snack like fruit and yoghurt, dates, dried fruit, malt loaf. Often this did the trick, and felt a bit more nutritious

Im 37 weeks and wow my sugar cravings have been wild! I am fit and healthy low risk, and baby is well, but I just can’t stop eating sugary things! Blaming it on the fact I’m expecting a girl and my mum lived off a donut a day when she was pregnant with me. I do also make a conscious effort to eat lots of vegetables and fresh fruit but I can’t cut the sugar

Get checked for gestational diabetes

I was craving pineapple juice like a madman and got diagnosed with GD

Have you got a blender to make home made smoothies with milk and yog of choice, plus frozen fruit, and maybe even a flavoured protein powder?

That helped me but yes all I could eat was cards tbh ha

Carbs not cards!!!

The only way I can stop myself eating multiple bowls of sugary cereal is to not have them in the house. Same with biscuits. If they're here, I'll eat them all!

Other than that I'd go with trying to satisfy the craving with sweet stuff that also has nutritional value. Nectarines/peaches are really sweet at the moment. You could make pancakes with wholegrain flour and melt a couple of squares of dark chocolate on them. That way you're ticking some good nutritional boxes as eggs have vit B which is great in pregnancy, and you're eating something sweet but quite filling.

My only craving in pregnancy was red peppers! Think I must have needed the vitamin C or something but I could come home from work and eat a whole red pepper quite happily.

Make sure you get checked for gestational diabetes. Then try to switch the for healthy sugars. Oranges strawberries apples pineapples kiwi etc. I had the same issue throughout my second trimester but it was craving sweets like jellies. Had to stop keeping them in the house and go for fruit instead. I also snacked on peanuts, hazelnuts, pistachio nuts etc. Not as satisfying but if I was snacking it at least helped.
I had granola in strawberry kefir yogurt sometimes as a breakfast sometimes as a snack (still sugars but at least more nutritious)

37+4 with a girl and wow I’ve ate sooo much sugar all the way through and only gained 16lb and baby is a great weight so far. I have about 2 bowls of cereal a day, 3 chocolate bars, multiple pieces of fruit and plenty of yoghurts ha! I’ve told the midwife and she said at least I’m eating and not to worry 🐷

I had this! Overall I ate really well but it’s the only time I’ve ever craved sweets really. I remember buying a big bag of skittles on the way to work and just eating them all. When not pregnant I’m not that fussed about sweet things - like I’d rather have a savoury snack always.
