9 weeks pregnant brown discharge

Patty23 · 30/07/2024 23:08

Currently 9 weeks pregnant after 3 previous losses and this is the furthest I have ever got. Due to my history I have had scans at 4 weeks, 6 weeks and 8 weeks which all showed everything progressing how it should and a healthy baby with strong heartbeat found at last two scans. At my 6 week scan I had been spotting brown and naturally feared the worst but they said I had a small bleed which would either bleed out or re absorb it's self. I haven't had anymore brown discharge since the day of that scan and at my 8 week scan (at a private clinic) they could not find the bleed. I'm on progesterone which I take rectally twice a day.
Unfortunately tonight a couple of hours ago I went to the toilet and the brown discharge/spotting has started again and now I've convinced myself of the worst outcome.
I have scan at 9am tomorrow with the EPU which was booked anymore so I guess I'll know more than.
I'm just wondering if anybody has had similar and what was the the outcome? This is a very much wanted baby and I'm not sure I would cope if I had the bad news💔
Thank you

I had this and I was miscarrying

minnieot · 30/07/2024 23:12

It could definitely still be the haematoma bleeding out, if it's brown blood it's old blood which is a good sign. There are so many causes of bleeding in early pregnancy so please don't fear the worst. Have you had or done anything in the past couple of days that could have irritated your cervix? Contact your EPU in the morning xx

@Britishsummertime22 I'm so sorry, life can be so cruel! I'm pretty sure they will tell me bad news tomorrow

Defo had this and convinced myself I was losing the baby. She's 16 now so try not to worry x

I really hope it's not the same for you. I've had 4 losses so I understand. It's really hard. Wishing you all the very best for tomorrow.

Just seen that you have a scan in the morning so that's good, although I know you'll be worried until then. I had a subchorionic haematoma too (which is what you described) which was seen on my first scan at 6 weeks and stayed there until at least 13 weeks when they never mentioned it again afterwards but it was there the entire time, never caused bleeding throughout that time but they did warn me that it definitely could. I did have bleeding at 17 weeks which was brown and I feared the worst but it was due to having a speculum the day before which irritated my cervix, the cervix is very easily irritated during pregnancy and can bleed super easily too. Please just take the fact that it's brown as a positive sign and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you in the morning. Sending you so much love x

I had this brown blood/discharge off and on for 3-4 months with both, all was fine, I did get additional early scans but figured if it got heavier/redder/painful that would be something to worry about....this was "normal for me". Stressful though, I just stopped checking in the end. Best wishes xx

Patty23 · 30/07/2024 23:16

@mminnieot , hello, thank you for your message I really appreciate it! I was hoping it may be the haematoma but they couldn't even find it at my scan last Wednesday. I haven't had sex and I stopped taking the pessaries vaginally weeks ago as they were irritating me. I just keep thinking that I will never be lucky enough to be able to have a child💔 luckily I had a scan booked in the morning at the epu anyway, thank you so much for your kind words xx

@Eggseggslegs I can't imagine how stressful that must of been for you to be spotting for so long! I'm glad that you had a good outcome and to know it can be possible❤️ no one really speaks about how bleeding can be normal and I hope this is the case for me! Thank you xx

@miminnieot I'm so glad that a scan was booked in anyway just need to get through the rest of the night. I didn't realise that subchorionic haematoma was common. I can imagine how worried you must of been when you seen the brown discharge, I'm so glad that everything was fine for you! Pregnancy is such an anxious time when you don't know what's going on inside of your own body. Your positive words have really calmed me so I really do thank you for that, I Will update in the morning with the outcome x

I had this twice. One was a loss, the other was completely fine.
Try not to worry. This is out of your hands. Wishing you the best.

Patty23 · 30/07/2024 23:57

@GrimDamnFanjo not knowing what's going on is the worst, I'm sorry you have also been through this! Your right there is nothing I can do to change the outcome and I will find out more in the morning

Unfortunately my cramps have got slightly worse and there is still quite a bit of brown discharge when I'm wiping💔 this is going to seem like a silly question but yesterday when I woke up I had a big stretch, could this have caused anything bad to happen? I feel like a crazy lady after the previous losses I literally question and worry about everything

I had the same at 8 weeks and I convinced myself that I was miscarrying. Doc also thought I was miscarrying and even wrote me a fit note stating miscarriage. However, I had a scan a few days later which showed I wasn't miscarrying - it was just an unexplained bleed. I was on pelvic rest until 24 weeks I think! I'm praying for you!

Patty23 · 31/07/2024 07:47

@Pinksoda08 that must of been so scary for you! I bet you were so anxious your full pregnancy I hope everything is okay now. I'm still having the brown discharge when I wipe💔 I'll be setting off shortly for my scan as the hospital is in the next town so will hopefully know more soon. Thank you for your kind words x

Just thought I would update this thread incase anyone is going through similar.
I had a scan this morning which showed healthy baby with a good strong heart beat measuring correctly🥰 they said the reason for the discharge could be the haematoma coming away as it could be seen on a scan 2 weeks ago but they couldn't see it today. I feel better but I'm still not 100% hopeful. I will keep my fingers crossed and take each day as it comes whilst I wait for a date for my 12 week scan🤞
Thank you everyone for your kind words &positivity❤️
