Piling on weight at only 8 weeks pregnant

This is my second pregnancy. With my first I didn't put any weight on until after the 12 weeks. My BMI has been stable at around 23.3 for the past 2 years or so (before my son I was a stone lighter). I'm only 8 weeks pregnant, definitely only 1 baby in there and I have been piling the pounds on, I've gained 7lb in total in the last few weeks. Last Thursday when I had my booking appointment I'd jumped from 9st5lb at the start of pregnancy to 9st9lb and then I weighed myself this morning and was horrified to see I've jumped up yet another 3lb. Currently my BMI is 24.9, on the verge of being overweight and at this rate I'll be classed as overweight by next week. I have not been eating any more than I usually would, if anything a bit less due to nausea and not having my usual appetite so I can't understand why I'm putting so much weight on so early on and worried about how much I'm going to put on over the next 7 months! I am concerned about getting so overweight in this pregnancy that I struggle to lose it. I don't feel bloated.

I think overall in my first pregnancy I put on about 2 stone and had a small baby. At this rate I am thinking I'll end up putting about 4 stone on if this continues. All my trousers feel tight and I just feel yuck in myself. Mainly I want to ask if anyone else has experienced similar weight gain so early on? How did it continue throughout the pregnancy? Any tips/advice/anyone know why this could be? Apparently you should only be gaining 1-4 lb during first trimester and I'm only 8 weeks and well ahead of those guidelines.

Hi
I was under 9 stone when I got pregnant, and trained very hard and ate extremely well. All that went out the window in the first trimester and put on a lot weight. It slowed down in the second and ramped up again in the 3rd. I put on nearly 4 stone and felt absolutely awful. My baby was 8.1. When I got home from the hospital I lost a total of 1 stone..I know this is considered normal but I was gutted as thought omg I have 3 to go!

anyway I am now 6 months post partum and 5lbs away from my pre pregnancy weight. I genuinely think if you’re someone who watched your weight beforehand you will be fine. You also can’t track BMI during pregnancy in the same way so don’t use that as a measurement x
