Subchronic hematoma - positive stories

Hi all,

I’ve done a thread before about a week ago in relation to early pregnancy bleeding. Am basically in a bit of a state …

Am currently 8 and a half weeks pregnant give or take. Had some bleeding (old brown blood) on and off between weeks 5 and 6 weeks but it stopped about a week ago. Had two early NHS also to confirm pregnancy was still okay and those were fine but they diagnosed a blood clot in uterus on both.

Fast forward ten days later currently on holiday in Tenerife 🙈 and last night experience bright red, vivid gushing from down below. Went to a Spanish hospital who checked my cervix which was closed and went back this morning (after having passed a huge clot and thought it was the end) for a scan and you could see baby with heartbeat but again the clot. They were surprised that my Midwife service let me go on holiday (they knew I was flying out) and also hadn’t prescribed me progesterone, they since have.

I just looked up a horrific statistic that stated if a hematoma is diagnosed early on, before 7 weeks the miscarriage rate is about 19% 😬 whereas a diagnosis after 8 weeks is 3%.

I’ve since stopped bleeding 🤞🏻and have managed to get my chronically constipated and traumatised self to do a poo - thank the lord for lactulose and suppositories because the pressure has been intense.

Also have a weird sensation up my vag when I pee, akin to a urine infection.

sorry for the ramble but please tell me you have a story about a SH with a happy ending. Had a miscarriage before my 3.5 year old DS, feeling so traumatised by the possibility of it again.

also cutting our 10 day holiday down to 5 by coming home tomorrow, sad for my boy who loves it but it’s the right thing.

thanks in advance xx

Hi lovely people,

scan on Friday was delightful :) baby fine despite persistent sch.

But I’ve just been to the toilet and passed two brown blood clots - probably about the size of a pound coin each. No cramping or discomfort.

what would you guys do?
so hard not to have a private scan every other day! Next scan isn’t until 29th at 12w5d.

I think to give yourself peace of mind, try to rest as much as you can as you are still bleeding although it is brown which is better rather than red. I have endo so just getting pregnant was a miracle so I was happy to do nothing but I was a sahm with a very supportive Dh who worked from home to meet Ds1's needs and mine.

I would say, stop lifting your 3 year old for the time being. You can still get down to his level and give him plenty of hugs and he can still sit on your lap but it can be the start of telling him to be more conscious of your tummy area for when it gets bigger. The no lifting/bed rest for mine was due to how much I bled and the size when it formed again after the first horrific bleed.

Personally, any excuse you need to rest, put your feet up and let your Dh/Dp step up and look after you a bit is a win Grin

Just wanted to thank everyone for their positive stories. They were a beacon when I was so anxious.

Had a scan at a private clinic today and haemorrhage has gone. Baby is 11w2d! 🎉

can now relax … a bit! 😋🤣

Hi everyone,

Even though SCH has gone, as confirmed at a private scan last Saturday, I’ve been having some brown spotting today. Not a lot but just disheartened it has come back.

This is TMI but I’m so so so constipated and I think this has come about due to straining. The reason I’m such an anxious mess even though it isn’t a lot is that this is how I found out I’d had a MMC with first pregnancy - pushing for the toilet which then presented vaginal bleeding.

Image enclosed, sorry for the TMI but I’m on an anxiety spiral.

desperate for the toilet but terrified to go. 😥

That looks like what I had weeks after my SCH, it was never seen on the scan but the spotting was on and off for a few weeks, it same back after sex or lots of walking so could see how constipation would start it. How far along are you?

Thanks for your reply lovely. I am 12w1d today according to last menstrual period. Saw baby at a private scan at 11w1d (11w2ds according to measurements).

definitely no sex happening here! 🤪 but desperately need the toilet and too scared to go in case I trigger another round of spotting. Hope all is okay. 🙈

Maybe try lactulose or something to stop the constipation? Although it can't actually cause any damage to baby it should just ease your mind, I would imagine it's just pushing the old left over SCH blood, mine was stringy like that too!

cherrybl0ssom5 · 25/08/2024 23:22

It looks like the old remains of the SCH, for the constipation fruits like kiwis and grapes are good & people swear by dates + prunes
