Is my girlfriend pregnant?

I had sex once on July 18 with my girlfriend 4 days before she was suppose to have her period. Today is day 27, her period is 6 days late. I’m almost sure the condom worked as it was suppose to but I’m starting to worry, cause it isn’t normal almost a week late.
What are the chances she’s pregnant? Do you think she could be?

Well what did the pregnancy tests say?

malimoon · 27/07/2024 10:39

If her period is six days late she can take a pregnancy test and then you guys will know for sure. At that stage in her cycle it should be a clear positive if she is pregnant

darkmode1 · 27/07/2024 10:46

Going off those dates (and a 21 day cycle is unusual), it is highly unlikely.

User4374 · 27/07/2024 10:47

Basically impossible to conceive 4 days before a period is due. All cycle lengths are different, but ovulation is typically 2 weeks before period. The average cycle is 28 days with ovulation on day 14. The fertile period is the few days before and during ovulation. The fact you had sex with a condom at keer a week after ovulation means it isn't possible, unless her dates are totally wrong or you had sex before this time.

Not necessarily true, same with User4374’s post. It doesn’t matter what a regular cycle is really as currently her period is 6 days ‘late’. Let’s say she isn’t pregnant, but as her period is 6 days late, she has then ovulated late or didn’t ovulate at all this month, if she ovulated late, then she may only be <12 days post ovulation and a test may not be entirely clear. Also, if she ovulated late then it could be a risk that she will have gotten pregnant depending on how late she ovulated. It’s not so black and white as to say it’s not possible to get pregnant 4 days before her period was due or that her period is late so it will be an obvious positive, because her period never came on time so this cycle is irregular.

However OP, if you used a condom, didn’t have any evidence of it breaking and she’s usually quite regular, it’s very unlikely she is pregnant. Best thing is to take a test in a few days and see.

Thos is odd? Is it real? Why are you speculating with strangers on the Internet rather than buy her a test?

Untrue.

That's based on the assumption she ovulated at a normal time, day 14 into her cycle typically.

If she had a delayed ovulation she could very well be pregnant.

I got pregnant on a completely random 52 cycle. I ovulated on day 39.

No idea why.

But apparently she has a 21 day cycle. The luteal phase is generally a consistent 12-14 days, in which case she would have ovulated on day CD7-9. Meaning that yes, it would be impossible to conceive on CD17.

Itsmychristmasdress · 27/07/2024 14:29

This is bizarre, op people are discussing your gf'cycle online. Did she even consent to this?

My luteal is 8 days long. I also don’t think it’s said anywhere that she does have a 21day cycle? I think that was another commenter speculating. She could also have ovulated late (which can explain why her period is late) but also puts her at risk of pregnancy.

However if you used a condom OP try not to worry, just test and keep testing until her period arrives!

darkmode1 · 27/07/2024 15:15

It’s in the OP 😊 An eight day luteal phase is very short indeed. But again, even if she also had an eight day luteal phase it would not be possible to conceive four days after ovulation.

Daisypod · 27/07/2024 15:17

Could the op mean that did on 18th, 4 days before af due and now it's 27th July and six days late, not day 27 of her cycle?

RivkaTheBold · 27/07/2024 15:24

Nah

Starlightstarbright3 · 27/07/2024 15:26

I would use a pregnancy test rather than the opinions of complete strangers on a website
