Hiya,

Recently found out I am pregnant with my first child 🙂 I have just received my booking in appointment with the midwife however it says it is a group appointment rather than a one on one appointment. Has anyone else been given this? I am very confused right now!

Gosh, well done for clarifying, OP.

This is classic NHS introducing a shittier service and trying to sell it as "beneficial to us" at one of the most vulnerable times of a woman's life. Hopefully the new government will stop fucking about and instead just recruit enough midwives to look after women properly on a 1:1 basis.

Not heard of this before but I can see the pros and cons.

I'd have liked to have met other women in the same situation as me. However with the smaller hospitals no longer having maternity services I wonder would they have been local women that I could have potentially met up with after having the baby?

I'm not sure I'd have liked this approach if I was having a complicated pregnancy where I had serious fears about losing the baby. It might be hard to be around women with healthy pregnancies when you're going through that.

The length of time spent at appointments would have been problematic. Most pregnant women are either going to be working or have responsibility for older children or both.
