Anxiety in early pregnancy…

Hello!

I recently found out I’m pregnant (only 4w4d) after 15 months of trying since a miscarriage. We had a healthy baby in 2020.

I just wanted to know if anyone has been/is in a similar boat? The anxiety of losing this baby has taken over - I was up all night worrying - which in turn makes me worry about the worrying effecting the baby. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Would anxiety have an effect on a pregnancy this early? I’m just terrified my 12 hours of absolute stress and fear will be causing problems 😖.

Ironically and naively I wasn’t worrying about the miscarried baby before the miscarriage due to my first pregnancy being okay.

Just feel completely crackers and like I’m the only person to be feeling like this.
Thanks so much.

I was exactly like this. First pregnancy I had a MC, before it happened I wasn’t worried at all. Pregnant again now (30 weeks) and the first trimester was awful. But your anxiety won’t affect the baby, don’t worry about that. Try and take each day as it comes, and I really pushed myself to assume things were ok. If you feel up to it, keep busy with social stuff, exercise, whatever distracts you. Could you plan for a private scan at 7/8 weeks, I had a couple this pregnancy- I’d say they helped me but only temporarily!

@Peonies12 Thank you so much for your reply. I’m aiming for a private scan at exactly 8 weeks. I had ‘quite a few’ private scans with my first pregnancy for the reassurance they gave!
It’s so so tough isn’t it after you have experienced loss. It’s such a vicious cycle too… worrying about then worrying more about the worrying!
