Anyone experienced with looking at ultrasound? Concerns…

Hello, I have had 2 12 week ultrasounds both of which baby was in a difficult position to take measurements etc. so no screening was able to be done. I am 13 + 3 days today and she didn’t raise any other concerns other than unable to take measurements. I am now concerned something is wrong and I have an NIPT test booked for Saturday. She said she couldn’t measure top of nose to back of neck. Does my scan look ok? Particularly the nose? Overthinking and can’t stop! If anyone could look for me please I would be so grateful. Please only kind comments - thank you xx

Nobody here can answer that for you, but really I wouldn't worry. It will be more a case that the baby was moving too much or too awkwardly positioned to get an actual definite measurement, which is what is required to tick the box. It doesn't mean anything is wrong.

At my 12 week scan with my current pregnancy we had the same issue. I was called back for another scan at 15 weeks. The sonographer did say that she couldn't see anything concerning, she just wasn't able to input the data required. At 15 weeks they can't measure nuchal translucency any more so we couldn't do the combined test but could still do quad test for Downs, which came back as 1 in 5,000. At both the 12 and 15 week scans the sonographer stressed that if the baby had some other trisomy they would expect to see soft markers too.

I'm now 30 weeks so I suppose the baby could still turn out to have Edwards or Patau, but she looks great on all her scans, is growing as expected, generally no cause for concern at all. You won't have to worry about this anyway as the NIPT will answer any questions you might have. But don't let this stress you out.

I’m not experienced. But they’ve said it’s just awkward and hard to measure no one’s mentioned any concerns whatsoever so I don’t think you should be worried. If you read this and it was someone’s else’s post you’d agree of course you’re just worried cause it’s your own baby

Yes I know you’re right, it’s just hard to stay level headed sometimes! Thank you x
