Inguinal hernia during pregnancy

I am 27 weeks pregnant and I have just been diagnosed with a Inguinal hernia. Has anyone else experienced this? Did it get worse during the last trimester and did it affect giving birth?

Hi - I have one. Diagnosed at 5 weeks in my previous pregnancy (baby’s now 14 months and I’m 13 weeks pregnant with my second). Mine was quite small, but symptomatic. The surgeon advised me to leave it until I had finished having babies. I actually found it most painful between 18 and 22 weeks, but by 28 weeks, the uterus has (apparently) moved the colon away from the hernia site (because of uterus/baby size) so there is less chance of strangulation. I was comfortable in my third trimester and while I had a c section for other reasons, I was told it would have been fine to labour with it. Hope that helps.

Thank you @Leaf86 so there were no complications with your c section because of it? I’m guessing they can avoid it. Did yours go away after your first pregnancy and come back again?
