Statutory maternity pay take home

Looking for some advice please on the actual take home amount whilst on Statutory Maternity Pay.

Currently working full time employed and due to go on maternity in the autumn. I understand the basics that it will be 6wks at 90% and the remainder at Approx £184 per week. What I'd like to clarify is if I currently get paid monthly will I receive SMP via my normal payslip? If it is £184 a week does the total take home vary each month depending on how many weeks there are in that month?

Also, I currently earn approx £25k so will that mean my SMP will receive any tax/NI deductions?

If someone is currently on SMP and happy to share their monthly take home that would be greatly appreciated!xx

Yes you will receive SMP as you normally would with any other pay and it will be shown on your payslip. It is subject to tax and NI but as it's a huge drop in earnings, from memory it wasn't that much.

If you go on gov.uk they have an SMP calculator so you can input your information and it will calculate the amount for you.
