Hi there I’m almost 10 weeks pregnant no morning sickness, not much appetite but I am forcing myself to eat 3 normal meals a day .
however in the last 7 days I’ve lost half a stone .
i can’t find much guidance for this on the internet but it’s quite worrying.

anyone else experienced this and what did your dr / midwife say?

I don’t have hosp or drs until 8th aug so wondered if anyone can help at all xx

What your bmi? Unless you're thin or underweight it's not much of a worry. I think it's common in early pregnancy. I assume it will level off. 3 meals a day isn't under eating so I'm sure youll be fine especially if there's no sickness

It’s common in early pregnancy, I have two DC and lost a bit of weight in both pregnancies in the first trimester, both times starting with a normal BMI (I don’t remember but around 19-20). I also ate crap I wouldn’t normally touch with a barge pole, craved salty fast food daily. My kids are definitely alive, kicking and developing normally.

I lost over a stone in first 3 months of my first 3 pregnancy’s wasn’t even sick just lost weight this time is the only time I haven’t lost weight as long as your eating plenty and drinking I wouldn’t worry to much at this point x

pinkfondu · 21/07/2024 12:23

I lost and my midwife was not worried. Keep eating and drinking and try not to worry

I was also losing weight in my first trimester but eventually started to put it back on. I wouldn't worry as long as your still eating.

I lost weight in first trimester, unless you were underweight to start with I wouldn’t worry. I put it back on when my appetite returned at about 13 weeks!

Thank you soo much for all your comments that was reassuring. Not sure on my bmi .

I’m 5ft 1 and last few months have managed to stay around 9stone after years of being severely underweight. I think that’s why it’s worried me this time as it’s not through my own doing , and so determined to hold onto this pregnancy not like last little embryo we lost at 10 weeks in Nov. Thank you to you all xz

There could be a few lifestyle factors at play too: I don’t know if you drank much alcohol before or maybe fizzy drinks, but I found I lost lots simply because I was only drinking water. Also if you’re making sure you eat 3 meals a day that’s great, but I’d imagine you’re probably not snacking between if you’re feeling rough which might also account for some weight loss. The baby will be taking all the nutrition it needs from your body so babs will be fine if you do lose some weight.

Ah that’s helpful @Lillers thank you very much , think I’m having a bad day today apart from feeling tired have no sore boobs or pain. We lost the last little one at this time just over 9 weeks so my head is playing tricks on me today and convinced little ones passed away . Just need to get my positivity back tomorrow. Thank you I do feel allot more reassured by your comments . And yes before I was pregnant I had drank more fizzy like cider then gave up and went to zero abv drinks .
have only really drank water the last 7 weeks or so and I guess a couple of weeks ago I know I was very bloated and feel if wind .

Hope you have a good weekend xx

I only gained a stone with my daughter. I lost weight in the first and third trimester.
I also lose weight as soon as I conceive before I know I'm pregnant.
There was no issues in pregnancy. My GP told me that baby will take everything it needs. I had sickness in first and third trimester.
I did struggle post partum however. I was back at my prepregnancy weight by 10 days post partum and by the time I stopped breastfeeding at 10 months I had lost a stone and a half and wasn't far off my lowest weight with anorexia. I had been on a restricted diet due to my daughters food allergies, I was walking for 3h a day for naps and had post natal depression which mean i had a poor diet for 18 months and that did take its tole on my body. The day before I stopped breastfeeding I collapsed with a BP of 80/40 and low blood sugars.
