Red Spotting / bicornuate uterus

So after two previous early losses I am now pregnant for a third time, right on que for my period arriving I started spotting. Today the spotting is bright red but my pregnancy tests are still getting darker.

Both previous pregnancies (one ending at 7wks one at 5wks) I spotted a week prior to my ‘period’ which then never came. As this pregnancy happened straight after my last loss I didnt have a period in between so never got my regular week of spotting, Until the exact day my period was due on Monday.

As you can imagine my anxiety is super high but wondered if any other ladies with Bicornuate uterus’s have had anything similar early spotting, I know its quite common for BUs but with my track record I don’t know if I am coming or going at the moment!!

I know women with BUs are prone to the opposite horn not registering the pregnancy which means the walls thicken and come away like a normal period, and I am praying this is what is happening but just wondering if any BU mamas have had the same thing and how bad did the bleeding get until it stopped?

My anxiety is so high and I am just so worried this is going to become another miscarriage I really don’t know what else to do other than look for reassurance.

going for blood work next week and then a early scan the following week.

Hi, I hope you’re okay and sorry I don’t have any advice but I was just just wondering how you got on? I’m currently going through very similar, I’ve had 2 previous MCs and currently pregnant but started brown spotting last week which turned into more of a light period and red the last couple of days, I also have a BU. In my previous pregnancies I didn’t have any bleeding like this. I had a scan at my EPU 2 days ago, and I was meant to be 6 weeks going off my LMP but they could only see a sac and yolk sac in my left side and dated me at 5 weeks. I’ve had hcg testing, first was 1195 and second 48hrs later was 1890, which did increase but they wanted it to double, going for another blood test today.
I really hope you had a good outcome xx

Hi there, I ended up having a full week of bleeding at 4 weeks, almost like a mini period. one day there was even some little clots (sorry tmi) so I was almost certain it wasn’t going to be good news! But we had a scan first at 4.5 weeks where they only saw a sac and found a SCH and then 13 days we saw a baby with a heart beat!

The fact your hcg is rising is good, sometimes is doesn’t double in the first place. Try and stay positive, I know how difficult it is when you have had previous losses but until you are told try to remain hopeful!

Sending you all the best!

@TTCJourney321 thank you so much for your reply and so glad you had a lovely outcome 🥰 that’s really encouraging! I’m still awaiting my hcg blood result for today so shall see. My bleeding has calmed back down more to just heavy spotting now
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and best wishes x

@Steffi12 Keep us posted how you get on! everything crossed for you. I was also prescribed progesterone which has seemed to really stop any bleeding and I haven’t had any since so it could be worth seeing if you can get on that if the spotting continues. Its so a mind game when you see blood when pregnant so just for your own sanity its helpful.

Thank you I will do❤️ I’ve asked so many docs/nurses about progesterone but they’ve said I can have it if they see a viable pregnancy on a scan. Which is frustrating as I feel like I need it sooner. That’s interesting about it slowing the bleeding down.
This weekend the bleeding started up for me again, like a light period, red but with more clots this time so fearing the worst 😓 it has seemingly stopped again for now.
And you’re so right about the mind games! I’m finding the bleeding quite distressing. My first 2 MCs were missed so on one hand atleast the bleeding is giving me a heads up something could be wrong. But did say to my husband I just want it to stop now as it’s so difficult to see x

@Steffi12 I was told exactly the same about having to see a viable pregnancy, It feels like a lifetime waiting to get to that point doesn’t it! I had a scan which was around 4.5 weeks and as they saw it was in the right place they let me progress with the progesterone, so do keep pushing.

I am so sorry you are going through the bleeding, it is so so distressing absolutely. I thought the exact same when I was bleeding and was assuming the worse, only to be
told I had a subchronic hermatona (very common after previous losses) and that wasn’t picked up on my 6w scan so I think it has disappeared now. So just to say there could be a number of reasons for the bleeding!

Sending you all the best and her if you need to talk :-)
