7 weeks today but bleeding for a week

Hi all,

just wondered if any one has had any similar stories to mine. I’m pregnant for the 2nd time, should be 7 weeks today. Baby wasn’t planned so definitely came as a shock but just as I was getting used to the idea I started spotting on Monday and it turned into bleeding. Mostly old brown blood but I have been passing some small amounts of tissue too. Still spotting as of today.

My hospital got me in for an appointment on Wednesday and I had a scan. I’m a bit confused because well … the prognosis was confusing! In the scan, the sonographer said she could only see a sac and nothing else. Which I thought was weird as I should have been 6w 4d. She also said there was blood in my uterus.

When I spoke to a midwife after they only put the pregnancy at 5w 3d and said I have a cyst on my left ovary which could be the cause for the bleeding. As I have said I have been lightly bleeding and cramping since.

I have a follow up scan next Friday but will agonise over the situation until then. I don’t feel it’s good news but then I have been another level exhausted and feeling so out of sorts all day most days. Might just be miscarriage symptoms however.

Just wondered if anyone has had anything similar to me. I’m expecting the worst. I’ve had a miscarriage before too.

I didn’t want to read and run. I had bleeding in early pregnancy, no heartbeat at the scan and measuring smaller than anticipated (I knew when I ovulated), I went back 2 weeks later and they found a heartbeat and I now have a 3 yo. But there’s nothing to say either way. It’s luck at this point. I know the wait is agonising. My thoughts are with you. As weird as it sounds the thing that helped was knowing nothing I could do would change the outcome.

Thank you lovely.

As I have miscarried before that is definitely the way I am looking at it, nothing I can do can change it. How wonderful about your darling 3yo. :)

Thanks for replying :) x
