Covid and pregnancy

Hi all - am currently 25 weeks pregnant and tested positive for Covid about 12 days ago. Was basically bed bound for a week feeling awful with all the flu-like symptoms. I am less congested now but I feel completely wiped out and am unbelievably tired and dizzy all the time. I’m meant to be going on holiday on Tuesday but at the moment I just feel so weak - is this just normal pregnancy / low immune system? Just wondered if anyone is or has been in the same boat (have heard there is a lot going round at the moment!)

Hi OP, sorry you've been so sick and feeling awful! I just had covid at 36 weeks and now 39 weeks. Was the exact same as you for that first week, but then another full week of feeling weak/dizzy/like I'd faint at any moment. I thought it would never end but after the full 2 weeks I finally started to get better. So I really hope it's just a matter of a few more days for you and you'll be over it🙏🏼 I think it is just pregnancy, low immune system and how it hits your body that bit harder

Have you told your midwife? At one point they were giving anti blood clot medication if you got Covid in pregnancy but not sure if it’s the same now.

@remaininghopeful23 sorry you have been struck down with it too! It sounds very similar so really hoping I will turn a corner soon too. Last time I had Covid I just had sniffles for a couple of days and I normally have quite a good immune system so this has slightly thrown me! Also feeling very sorry for myself as I was meant to be at a hen do this weekend and husband is away so am home alone and feeling rotten!

@Kiwi23 wishing you a speedy recovery! The breathlessness and congestion is awful, I felt like I couldn’t breathe and had such bad sleep as couldn’t really take any decongestants. Hope you feel better soon!

@User79853257976 yup I told my midwife when I first tested positive. She said if I was 28 weeks or more then I think they have a different protocol and give you anti blood clotting stuff… but as I’m still second trimester she basically said just to rest up and drink lots of fluids. I think I only go in if there’s a reduction in baby’s movements or high temperature and luckily touch wood I haven’t had either…
