Can anyone help - am I going to miscarry again?

I was hoping others might be able to share their experiences with me. I am really struggling atm.

I had my DS in Feb 2022. In Sep 2023 I had a mmc - found out just before our 12 week scan.

I am pregnant again - I had an early scan at the weekend, they found a heartbeat but they moved my dd back by 3-4 days which is exactly what happened when I had the mmc. I was doing opks so I know when I ovulated and my periods are regular. I also have barely any symptoms- in my first pregnancy the sickness was bad. I am preparing myself for the worst / inevitable here. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

So sorry about your mmc.

I haven't experience a loss, but when I was pregnant with my DS I was always 5 days behind what I should have been and all was fine!

As hard as it seems take each day as it comes. Hopefully all will be well with this pregnancy and you will get your much wanted next baby. Take care.

Thank you both for replying. I am trying to take it a day at a time but after an awful mmc and a lot of other loss in the last 18 months, it feels very hard. Ironically the reassurance scan has made me feel worse! I was feeling a bit more positive before then.

Everyone I know has had their due date moved when they've had a scan. Even with known ovulation, implantation can occur between 6-12 DPO. And the measurements are so tiny at that stage. Sorry for your losses, it makes it so stressful, but unfortunately you can only wait and see. my first pregnancy which I lost, I never had a scan and I'm grateful for that. This pregnancy I only had an early scan as had bleeding but luckily at 28 weeks now.

readyforroundthree · 09/07/2024 15:56

Remember that the day you ovulate and the day implantation occurs can be on different days, so putting dates back by 3-4 days is not unusual. Also early pregnancy scans they are literally working by measurements of mm, so you might find at the 12 week scan they move you forward. I had a MMC years ago, found out at the 12 week scan so I understand your anxiety but you have no control over this situation. The positive is that you've seen a heartbeat which is good news.

I've had my due date moved and I had a frozen embryo transfer, so know 1000% when my 'due date' should be, so I would try not to put much weight on being a couple of days out, particularly with an early scan when measurements are so small a tiny margin of error makes a difference. Try to stay focussed on their being a heartbeat, which is a good sign. Wishing you the best of luck

Measuring up to a week ahead or behind is really normal. Mine moved back and forth a lot til my 12 week scan.

It's really hard i know but this means nothing. just try and take your mind off it. and good luck

Loopytiles · 09/07/2024 17:06

How many weeks pregnancy did you calculate it when you had the early scan? Did you see a heartbeat?

Loopytiles · 09/07/2024 17:07

Oh sorry, see your OP says a heartbeat was found, which seems a good sign.

nothing to be done but wait. It’s hard.

Blue2020 · 09/07/2024 17:26

I had this. With my mmc though I didn’t go for a scan until 9 weeks and it had ended at 6.5. Then a few months later I conceived again. I went for a scan at 9+1 (knowing when I ovulated) and they dated it 8+5. So I worried a bit, however by the nhs dating scan when I was 13+3 they put me forward to 13+5.

With it being a few days I would try not to worry. I know easier said than done though.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a MMC with twins in April so I can completely relate to how devastating it is. I'm pregnant again and had a scan yesterday. Was 6+3 based on LMP and was measured at 6+2. Then she measured again during the same scan and was 6+1. As PPs have said, the measurements are in millimetres so the tiniest difference will throw things off by a few days at this stage. They are so tiny! I totally understand why you'd be feeling so anxious but try to take the positive - you saw a heartbeat which is huge. It's much more likely to go well than not but I know how hard it is to feel positive when you've experienced loss before. Go gently ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has been so incredibly kind on here, it really helps ❤️ I think my brain is preparing for the worst as a protection mechanism- it’s almost like I can’t comprehend any other outcome now. I think taking it a day at a time is helpful 🥰

Big hugs OP, been there more than once. I was about 3 days behind my estimated dates with my successful pregnancy. I know the anxiety of the first weeks, nothing really helps with it but you get through. Best of luck x

FlakyAquaQuoter · 09/07/2024 20:15

So sorry to hear of your loss. I had a MMC back in Sept and can fully appreciate how hard a new pregnancy must feel.
I had a similar experience to a PP in that I had a frozen embryo transfer with my daughter so knew exactly what my dates were. I was still dated 3 days out on my first scan and 5 on my second!
I had bleeding and all sorts but she turned out just bloody perfect.
My second, which was the MMC, I had none of these issues. Seeing a heartbeat is so positive. Wishing you all the best.

Hellothere89 · 10/07/2024 12:42

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it. I thought I’d feel better once I was pregnant again but nothing really prepares you for all this new anxiety (with lots of hormones thrown into the mix too).

@CosmicLove so sorry to hear of your loss too, it’s so so tough. We must be on a very similar timescale now though as I’m around 6 weeks!

It’s so hard. I just had a MMC and there was a discrepancy between the size of the baby within a day! My early scan measured at 7.07mm (with no heartbeat) and the EPU the next day measured at 2.4mm! Try hard not to worry but I know how hard that is to do!
