8 weeks pregnant finding it tough

I’m pregnant with my second child. I am over the moon but am really struggling with the tiredness and sickness. My daughter is 18 months old and I love her to pieces, but am finding it so hard being exhausted all the time that I’m not able to give her 110% like I normally am! My husband is amazing and supportive, but I just feel a bit meh! not really a question really, just wanted to have a moan.

my body is also really achy and my legs and feet are tingly

I feel you! DD is also 18mths and I’m 7wks pregnant and finding it so tough! I’ve had awful nausea and am just so tired. It doesn’t help I’m still breastfeeding DD, so also end up feeling uncomfortable and grumpy at bedtime and then feel guilty. I’m honestly starting to dread having #2, if I’m already struggling now I worry how I’ll cope with a newborn and a toddler.

Youre a super human!

Im 24 weeks with number 2. Saw another pregnant mum yesterday at a party, she's a bit behind me. I'd never met her before. We both sat and laughed for a solid half an hour about what we've done to survive so far. Felt wonderful to have a shared moan!

It is tough but it does get easier. Youre in the pits of it atm, sending solidarity.

Please dont underestimate the power of a VERY early night or a nap if you can swing one. And lower every boundary/expectation!

I empathise. Also 8 weeks with a similar aged toddler. Feeling so, so tired. Rarely have screen time usually but have put it on for a couple of hours today for DD while I lay on the sofa. Still breastfeeding DD but my nipples are so sore, makes me wince!

In existing mode and hoping I perk up in the second trimester.

Hope you all feel better soon and in the meantime don’t feel guilty for doing whatever you need to, to get through the early weeks.

@GentleSloth try and let go of the guilt too. The other thing that's helping me on a rough day, my DD has a mummy preference despite 50:50 parenting and DH being MUCH more fun! I'm trying to see it as an opportunity to break down some of the preferential parent thing before baby gets here. I tried to flip my thoughts into a constructive space when I was feeling really rough, it was so easy to beat myself up. They have developed a much closer bond thanks to morning sickness, which I know will do us all good in the long run.

You've got this, I promise xx

definitely in a very similar boat with being the preferred parent atm, so I think that’s what’s making me feel guilty too! Xx

Teacherprebaby · 08/07/2024 16:10

I just wanted to say you are super heros. I am 12 weeks with my first and I really don't know how anyone does this with a child. Hats off.
