I’m a primary school teacher & currently 6/7 weeks pregnant - very early days! When did you tell your headteacher?

I told office manager at around 10 wks due to number of appointments and HT at 15 wks after the test results were low risk (I'm older than average) Rest of staff, I told at 18wks.

Head ASAP so they can protect you.

Everyone else, in September now.

I told the TAs I was working with earlier in case I needed to quickly leave but then told head and rest of staff after my 12 week scan. Children were told after the 20 week scan.

Edit: you might also want to tell the office manager so they can inform you of any cases of slapped cheek which can be dangerous.

Both my head teacher and my TA as soon as I found out.
Head teacher as if something went wrong I would need time off and also so I didn't have to do certain things e.g. team teach. I told my TA so she was on stand by to take over due to morning sickness which meant I had to leave the classroom at very short notice!

I’m around 4/5 weeks so won’t be telling anyone until after my 12 week scan. I don’t think it’s necessary now we’re nearly finished. It’s not like they would be sorting maternity cover before the 6 weeks anyway. :)

With my first, I did tell the HT around 7 weeks but just because the appointments were during term time.

I told early in secondary too, knowing the timetable would be being done. Made no sense to give me all y11 and sixth form if I was only going to have them for a term.

Really early with the logic that if I did have a miscarriage I would need school to know so that I could take some time off.
