Hi all,

This is my first pregnancy which has all been fine but since about 3 days ago, I have started having headaches every day. Not intense migraines but still quite painful throbbing headaches.

I just wondered if anyone else suffered or is suffering from the same and if it’s common? I am 13 weeks pregnant.

thanks!

I did have them from around the same time as you but it was also closer to the base of my skull and radiating down my neck.
They went away THE DAY I started taking iron supplements.
I have always slept well during pregnancy so I'm not sure if it's a sleep related thing for you.
Unfortunately I'm still anaemic now at 36 weeks but no headaches at all since that day.

Yess!!! 14 weeks pregnant tomorrow and the headaches the past week have been crippling

Brewers22 · 02/07/2024 14:30

They have mainly been at the front of my head and to my temples. Sleep hasn’t been great but I seem to be okay until about mid afternoon.

Always worth getting these things checked out, OP. Relentless headaches can be a sign of pre-eclampsia

HEADACHES
Dull or severe, throbbing headaches, often described as migraine-like that just won't go away are cause for concern.
What you can do...
If you have tried taking over-the-counter medication without relief, if the headache is very painful, you have light sensitivity, or if your headache is accompanied by vision changes (please read the section below on "Changes in Vision") call your provider immediately and ask to see him/her that day.

Like someone else said, iron tablets have fixed it for me this pregnancy. That and making sure I go for a walk in fresh air as early as possible in the day, drink a lot of water, and eat enough protein.

Yeah I had headaches around this stage in all pregnancies. Went away around 16 weeks IIRC.
Interesting that it might be related to anaemia or lack of sleep though. I always assumed (without basis) that it was blood pressure or something!
