Dh and I are going to London in 2 weeks for my birthday. Dh wants to take me on a Champagne flight on the London Eye. But he doesn't know if I should be drinking 1 glass of champagne.

He asked me to ask your opinions.

WhoMoved - I don't klnow about North Wales, is there enough sunshine for vitamin D levels...? As for accents! Which side of the London one do you think is odd? I find London has more odd accents that anywhere else I've ever been, but none of those come from being born here...!

whomovedmy chocolate i was having a bad day and the answer made me laugh out loud even

i understand what you meant,i guess some ppl are just extra sensitive right now.

i was born and lived in london for 20 years and no way would i live there again (i live in a rural area now its lovely)so i understand the jokey comment full well.

i hope i dont get jumped on for my comment now its nothin personal just my view.

as for drinkin a glass of champagne i dont drink at all i never have so never had to face the dilemma or shall i shant i,or weigh the risks up but surely how can 1 glass hurt.

i am a trained counceler in helping people make the right decision for them on whether to have there baby or not and trust me if all my ladies only had the 1 glass of champers all wouold be ok,some of the things they do when pregnant would make you cry, especially when they continue with the pregnancy.

i think its really nice to even consider whether one glass is ok or not,its shows a fantastic caring mum,and thats such a good thing.

as for me im an insulin diabetic i dont drink dont smoke dont eat sugar my highlight it to try a new flavoured water out for the evening hey maybe throw a few ice cubes in for a change
what a lovely caring DH enjoy yourself and have a good time

LOL I didn't take it personally Disneystar don't worry, hence my tongue in cheek response. People do do daft things in pregnancy - indeed embarking on pregnancy in many cases is daft (mine included)

Pregnantpenguin - Well my sense of direction is appalling so I couldn't possibly say

i can't believe you are seriously considering abstaining from ONE glass of champagne on your birthday. seriously! go for it and have a wonderful time!

before anyone bites my head off, i am NOT advocating constant or binge drinking in pregnancy- or ever, for that matter- just that being "european" i find this all or nothing approach rather mystifying. women all over europe enjoy wine in moderation throughout their pregnancy (thoughout their life, should i say) and are fine.

the fact that you are so concerned tells me you are a conscienscious mum to be who won't slide down a massive binge and probably will be extra careful for the duration. i also suspect your dh is a lovely guy and the two of you will have a wonderful time.

so go for it!!!

Thanks everyone. I will have the one glass.

I do have slight morning sickness, so I'm hoping I'll be ok when I am on it.

Kayzisexpecting My sister lives in France and drank a little throughout both her preganancies. Also ate soft cheese. The only thing she was told not to eat was raw meat and unpasteurised milk, which does seem to be fairly sensible.

Have a lovely time on the eye. I am an ex Londoner (born there, brought up there, couldn't wait to leave, don't have a funny accent - been in the North for too long) and loved the Eye on a quick visit. I turned into a Tour Guide for the other couples in the pod who couldn't make out the skyline map. Felt like a propoer Lahdahneeer.
