Is this morning sickness?

Hi everyone. I'm 6 weeks 1 day pregnant and I am absolutely starving today to the point it's making me feel sick. Nothing I eat is filling me up and I feel like I have a hole in my stomach. I've just eaten a large pizza and am still starving!!
Is this how the "morning sickness" starts? Or have those who've had morning sickness not been able to look at food?
Thanks! 🥰

No I wouldn't call that morning sickness. Both of my experiences of it started and heartburn, increasing to nausea and then being sick.

But being insanely hungry is normal too. Try to focus on protein and plenty of fluids.

It varies for everyone.

First pregnancy - I was extremely nauseous from about 7 weeks and couldn’t keep anything down. Even water made me throw up.

Second pregnancy - not as nauseous but constantly retched.

Sounds like you have hunger, which is another thing that can happen in early pregnancy and throughout.

Morning sickness starts by waking up and vomiting before you can even move. I wish I could eat a whole pizza 😩 13 weeks and sick multiple times a times and have never had what you describe

Morning sickness is retching , nausea, vomiting.
I felt sicker when I hadn't eaten but I wouldn't say that just because you feel hungry now you'll end up with morning sickness... You'll probably start to feel sick this week if you're going to. Fingers crossed you don't !

This was my experience, feeling as if I was so hungry it made me feel sick, I ate constantly, I'm a size 8 usually and was 3.5 stone heavier 2 weeks after delivery. Good news is the feeling went and the weight fell off when I was back to normal eating habits.

Floralsofa · 29/06/2024 22:43

I should add that on top of this, up until about week 14 I was also retching several times a day and vomiting once or twice a day. Cyclizine did help though and I wish I started it earlier.

Wonkywinky · 29/06/2024 22:59

Yes that was how it started with all 3 of mine
Eating stopped the hunger / nausea sometimes.
Other times I'd wake up and be unable to eat.
I didn't vomit once in all my pregnancies but dreadful nausea

Morning sickness is nausea, retching, and vomiting. Enjoy eating while you still can! 😂

I could eat no problem, for the first few weeks of pregnancy. However, as soon as I hit 8 weeks, I was sick. If I wasn’t sick, I was very nauseous. Some days I was sick around 5-6 times a day, at various times of the day, even being woken up by the need to be sick, and sometimes I struggled to keep water down. I ended up being given medication by my GP, to help. It didn’t start to ease off until about 14 weeks or so, and I still occasionally vomit, even though I’m more than halfway through my pregnancy.

I still can’t eat a full meal though, or anywhere near as much as I used to, so I tend to just eat little and often.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I had been a little bit nauseous up until now but now I'm just ravenous. Hopefully it goes away soon but I'd take this over nausea 😂🙈

I have the exact same thing, currently 6+6, have this gnawing pain that only goes away if I eat (something big) but then comes straight back hour later. I too thought maybe heart burn I tried antacids and gaviscon but it hasn’t worked, been over a week it’s actually annoying me as the hunger pain is getting more constant.
