Egg 2 Car Seat Advice

Hello all, I'm hoping for some advice as I can't seem to find anything online.

My sister has an Egg 2 Advent travel system (carrycot, car seat and pushchair) and she had her last baby nearly 3 years ago, but I want a new car seat as I'm concerned about it being second hand.

Does anyone know if the Egg 3 car seat or any other brands are compatible with the Egg Advent 2 system? Or is it worth me looking for a completely new travel system just to be sure?

TIA! X

If the car seat has only been used by your sister, then it's not really the same thing as getting one second hand from a total stranger.

Basically the risk with second hand is that the original owner might have modified the seat somehow (repairs, missing parts replaced with unofficial ones) or had an accident with the seat in their car and they might not tell you about this because they want to make a sale. As it's your sister, you presumably have more trust in her and it would be fine to reuse her seat, similar to handing down between children in the same family. There is nothing about it having been used before that makes it unsafe, it's just the unknown part of getting it from a stranger. You should not use a car seat which is too old because they do have moving parts which can wear out and degrade, so it just depends how old her oldest child is. If the car seat is more than 8-10 years old then it's best to replace it, especially if you think you'll have more than one baby yourself. But if her oldest child is 6 or something, then I'd be perfectly fine with using that personally.

If you did want to replace anyway, it doesn't look like the actual car seat (Egg Shell) has changed between these two versions of the pram and the adapters are multi-brand ones anyway so they fit most of the major brands like Maxi Cosi, Cybex, Britax, Joie etc.

Egg even say that the main seat unit of the Egg 3 will fit onto the Egg 2 chassis.

Hi I have the egg shell car seat and I hate it, from birth I felt like she was too small and uncomfortable in it even now she is 9 weeks and I just don't like it wish I went for the maxi cosi
