Can feel baby’s head (behind vaginal wall)?

Hi,

I am 38 weeks this Saturday. Last weekend I went into MFAU because I was having some pain, like mild contractions, they told me I’m in early stage of Labour.

last night I had contractions that were irregular , but very, very painful. This went on for hours then just stopped. Today I wanted to check the position of my cervix and I can feel the baby’s head - not his actual head, but behind the vaginal wall. I cannot feel my cervix at all (don’t know if that means it is effaced or what) but his head is very low down, I didn’t have to reach very far up before I could feel it.

DH said he’s unsure whether it’s worth going to MFAU again as my contractions are irregular, which makes sense. But I don’t know what to think or do. Does this mean Labour is imminent?

I also have gestational diabetes which I’m on metformin for. I’ve got an appt tomorrow to discuss possible induction at 39 weeks.

thank you x

Call the maternity ward or you midwife - only they can give you an answer.

Good luck with the birth!
