Hi so I just found out I am pregnant (12 weeks) I have been drinking red wine occasionally. Maybe 3 or 4 times and got a “buzz” each time. Will my baby be okay, should I terminate? I did not know I was pregnant at the time

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Please do not overly worry about the alcohol you have already consumed. Alcohol is not recommended in pregnancy because the doctors do not know at what point it stops being safe and starts being damaging - and it's unethical to experiment on pregnant women - so they advise none at all.

However, there are millions of women around the world who drink before finding out they are pregnant (myself included!), and baby turns out fine. Some women don't even realise until they are giving birth. What's important now is to get yourself booked in with the midwives, speak to them about what's worrying you (as they will give you a much more informed medical perspective than anyone on the internet) and stop drinking from this point on. Look at taking pregnancy vitamins if you have not yet started.

Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
