Had my 12 week scan today. Anyone fancy predicting the gender based on the nub visible?
…many thanks in advance😀

@Nubadub looks similar to my daughters scan pic so I'm guessing girl! Congrats either way though! Exciting time ❤️

Genuinelyenquiring · 25/06/2024 19:31

Pretty sure that's a boy. There are some good FB groups which will guess for free x

Nubadub · 25/06/2024 19:47

Thank you for your replies!! I just sent off the images to the nub tech website - just for fun really.
I’ll update when they respond (hopefully within 24 hours). The sonographer wouldn’t tell me anything but the nurse I saw after suggested I google nub theory and I really can’t decide from my images.
It will be interesting to see what they say.

ooh the nub is so clear but I'm not 100% sure! How far along are you exactly? It might be boy if it keeps rising but it's not that far off parallel with the spine so if it stays as it is it could be girl.

I'm saying potential boy but wouldn't put money on anything.

13 weeks 1 day today (day of scan).
I know it’s a tricky one. I have seen examples online and many are quite obviously in one camp or the other but this one is really a bit of both…

I think the angle with the bladder means it's a boy! Let us know!

lipglossandmascara · 25/06/2024 20:43

Boy xx

Nubadub · 25/06/2024 21:08

I see I’m getting a lot of blue votes. I have two boys already… I’d like to know early to get my head around it. A girl would be a nice change but what will be will be.
Will update when the nub experts reply. It was £12… I didn’t even know such a service existed until this afternoon!

Just got my email through… it’s a boy.

Must let go of my fleeting dreams of little dresses and dolls. Just wish I had saved some of the boys baby clothes now!

Congratulations. It's ok to be disappointed but 3 boys will be a lovely little gang x

Thank you Genuinely. 🌸 And especially for saying it’s ok to be disappointed. I am! 😬😳
But I have another 6 months to get my head together and I will love this child just as I love his brothers. But yes a change would have been nice and would really have completed our family (or I imagine it would have). Quite a big age gap between the first two and this one (they’re 7 & 9).
But anyhow! I’m glad I found out. Would not want any feelings of disappointment when I meet my little boy for the first time! 😀

this is why I think it's often a good idea to find out... gives you plenty of time to get your head around what you're having if you had any preference beforehand. I agree that it's fine to be a little bit wistful for the experience you won't have. I am not planning any more and have only girls, and while I'm happy with that I always imagined there'd be a little boy along the way, and it feels strange to acknowledge there never will be.
Still, boys are lovely and you will get so many gorgeous experiences with your 3, OP. Congratulations!

Genuinelyenquiring · 27/06/2024 17:14

@ladycarlotta whereas i always thought my girl would have a sister and instead she's got 2 brothers! It's strange what you imagine v what you get!

Nubadub · 27/06/2024 21:56

And I confess I’ve spent quite a lot of time over the last 24 hours scouring through Mumsnet/reddit/other websites to see where the nub techs and other prediction companies have got it wrong. Clearly finding it hard to accept but then… it’s only a prediction (though with 98% certainty according to the experts!)
but… 20 week scan will have the final say I guess!

I said this to my husband too. Don’t want any sour feelings at time of birth!

oh totally, and I think one of the most important things about having kids is gaining the humility to just cast off your expectations. They're always going to be their own people. They will never be what you imagined, and it's unreasonable to want them to be. Your job is just to love them.
