Gift for Pregnant Friend?

Hello
My old school pal lives in Asia and is pregnant with firs child.
She is coming to the UK to visit everyone this summer.
Baby is due November.
I wanted to buy a gift for the baby but I believe that is superstitiously bad luck before birth?
I was thinking to buy my friend a present but I don't know what...
Budget £25-£30
Any ideas or should I just get her a nice card and buy her dinner?
She is travelling back to Asia on a plane so I don't want to weigh her down with loads of stuff 🤔

I can see why you want to give a gift early, with them living far away. I've normally treated buying gifts for expectant people carefully though - I often find its worth saying to someone 'I wanted to get a gift for you for when baby comes. I thought it would be nice to give you it when I see you, but I understand some people prefer not to be given gifts until baby arrives. Can you please let me know your preference?'

If they would prefer no gifts at this time, then you can consider sending something onto them once baby arrives.

To be honest, it might be nice just to treat your friend whilst she's over. One of the most thoughtful things I experienced when I was expecting was a friend who out together a wee bag with a gift for baby, but also put together a bit of a pamper bag for me. I really appreciated the little pamper bag.

In terms of gifts for mum you could get some products for pampering her eg bath bombs, stretch mark cream, pyjamas ect.

I had never heard of this not buying for baby before hand!

When I was pregnant I refused gifts for the baby only because I had a high risk pregnancy. However, one of my husband’s friend’s wife who was also pregnant at the same time as me sent maternity clothes - which I appreciated very much.
