Freaked out by first trimester results

Had my first at 27 three and a half years ago; first trimester screening results were 1: 50,000 and Pataus 1: 24,000.

Now pregnant with my second at 31 (healthy, non smoker etc) and the results have plummeted down to 1: 5,000 across the board.

Really shocked by how much lower this time, would love some reassurance that this is normal in second pregnancies and is related to age. Freaking out a bit.

Hi op. So in some trusts now the 'lowest risk' you can be is 1:5000. My results were the same.

I'm 32 and my results were 1:600 and that's classed as low risk.

I had the same, my 6 year olds results were insane, probably even lower risk than 1 in 50,000 I didn't bat an eyelid at them. My daughter born this year was 1 in 2300 and 1 in 5000. I'm only 28 non smoker etc. I think the system has somewhat changed 🤷🏼‍♀️

In our trust the upper limit is now 1:5000 - it was 1:100000 until a year or so ago and it has caused some worry to those comparing their previous results.

They have changed it and 5,000 is the most it goes to now

Thank goodness for that, thank you all. Seeing the difference, even though it's still low risk, really panicked me but it makes sense!
