Hi all, wondering if anyone has any advice. I’m 17 weeks pregnant and I’ve had a pretty normal time until now, suddenly I’ve got quite bad period like cramps in my right side, which is radiating down my legs. I’ve been pregnant 3 times and I’ve not experienced this before.

So of course this has happened day 1 of being in Italy, so it’s not like I can contact my midwife or anything like that. It’s been going non stop for about 6 hours now, and isn’t easing off.

Any advice/reassurance? It doesn’t feel like round ligament pain that I’ve had before. Thanks!

You can got to A&E in Italy, it's called Pronto Soccorso, they will check you out, they take things like this very seriously. There are not Midwives in Italy you'll be seen by an Obstetrician. If you're in a small town far from a hopsital, go into a local bar or shop and ask for the details of the Guarda Medica, which is the local emergency doctor. Where in Italy are you?

Do you have your notes with you? You should be able to phone your maternity triage and/or text/call your midwife, no?

If you have travel insurance they should be able help you find a doctor.

Hope everything turns out okay!

I didn’t bring anything with me because I was told I wouldn’t need to with only being 17 weeks 😩 Should have, but the pain is completely gone now so I’m going to hope that was that. I’ve been drinking a lot of water but maybe not enough? So typical. If it happens again I will find a doctor
