Missed call - screening results

I can’t believe I did it. Missed a call at 3pm today from the hospital. I had my 12 week scan and combined screening test done last Thursday pm. Scan apparently looked fine but of course had to wait for bloods to come back to get risk. I can’t imagine what else they would be calling for, and they told me they don’t call unless there’s ‘cause for concern,’ i.e. a high risk.

Now I get to spin out for the rest of the weekend. This whole pregnancy has been like this. I’m so sick of worrying.

I'm sorry you're having such a worry, especially over the weekend.

By last Thursday do you mean yesterday or last week?

Toastiecroissant · 21/06/2024 19:52

Just call EPU they’ll put you through to someone
or check online if you have access to your notes, it will say in there
if it’s high risk they will call back too
try not to worry

@WickWood sorry, had my scan and bloods done on Thursday 13th. I said to myself if they don't call by Monday, then I'm likely in the clear. Then I go and miss the call...

@Toastiecroissant my EPU is closed until Monday, no online access to anything. To make matters worse I'm hundreds of miles away from home at my in-laws, and they've organised a party for this weekend (people coming from all over and camping) despite my DH saying he didn't want one for his birthday. I'm currently hiding in our room from guests, because I don't have an ounce of energy left for making small talk in company.

This pregnancy is my 9th, and it's been one worry after the next, from loss of symptoms to bleeding etc, and loads of waiting over bank holidays for help. I'm so incredibly lucky to have one living DD, but my god, I'm exhausted by the worry.

I’m really surprised your epu is closed, have you been given any other numbers? I’ve had someone I could contact 24/7 since 8 weeks
sorry you’re in this situation. Definitely try to look online if you can, my gp and also my hospital have various systems where I can check my results. You may have something similar?

pyjamalife · 21/06/2024 22:25

Do you have an app you can access like badger notes?

I was told the same and had the panic when they rang but everything was fine. It may have been because I was negative blood type, but I think it was just because they had the chance to call and tell me.

SH998 · 22/06/2024 05:37

You should have been given a number to call which is available 24/7? The service is open during weekends. Try googling this for your hospital. They should be able to help.
I was told that any issues with bloods you would hear within 5 days but the nurses said it would be much quicker than that more like 2/3 days if any issues.

If you call the number on your hospital letter inviting you to the scan, they should be able to arrange for someone to call you back again. I wouldn't rule out being able to call on a Saturday - if they're in a quiet patch someone may be able to give you a ring, there will still be midwives around even if they don't do weekend routine appointments. Worst case, you can leave a message saying if someone can't get back to you over the weekend, can someone call you between X and Y times when you know you'll be able to answer on Monday/Tuesday.

Yes call! I did exactly the same thing and was put through to the screening midwife
