Vomiting / stomach flu? at 24 weeks

Feeling miserable after a night of vomiting my guts up. I've had a cold/cough, and heartburn, but last night couldn't lie down without vomiting and kept coughing then vomiting. Not sure if its stomach flu or what?

Trying hard today to get some fluids in, and not vomited today but feeling totally wiped out. I've only managed to eat a little bit of dry toast. Still feeling very heartburny today

Any suggestions on keeping up strength until I feel better? Do I need to be concerned about hydration / lack of food intake and baby?

Thanks

I'm sorry you're feeling so awful. I'd always just give the midwife a call just to ask if I were you. I doubt you need to be worried about one day of being less hydrated than usual but I'd definitely ask the midwife. Based on what you've said it sounds like I could be severe reflux? Again something to ask the midwife about, especially if it continues

@imy I'll see if I can find any contact details for midwife. I've been consultant led so had very little to do with my midwife to be honest. I'm on omeprazole already and as long as I take it every day its been staying on top of the heartburn (which has been way worse this pregnancy)

I had a very similar experience last week and I’ve realised it was just severe reflux, mayyybe a touch of gastritis. I was sick for 12 hours and it was grim but I think if it’s norovirus or something, you really know about it!

@BoldMoose Urgh! Sorry to hear you've gone through this too. Was it just time that let you get back on top of it? Consultant did say I could take 2 omeprazole if needed (rather than the 1 I'm taking) so I might try upping the dosage. Just feels I still have a long way to go with this pregnancy to be having such bad reflux issues already 😫

@2mumlife I do struggle with heartburn at the best of times. Luckily this seemed to be a self contained episode - just had such a strong acid feeling in my chest and my body felt like it needed to get rid! There were a couple of things I did beforehand that definitely made it worse on reflection. I drank 2 big glasses of alcohol free prosecco which was really acidic, put too much hot sauce on my evening meal and took my pregnacare randomly in the afternoon on an empty stomach. I think lots of people find that the iron in the tablets gives them indigestion.

@BoldMoose I've only every had heartburn during pregnancy. I did have some Dominos pizza yesterday, maybe that was enough to push me over the edge 😭
