Did you get induced for gestational diabetes?

I'm 33+4 weeks pregnant and this is my first pregnancy. Like anyone else I have no idea when my body will go into labour. And was wondering what the best time would be to go into labour if you have gestational diabetes controlled with diet. Would I need to be induced early?

I had GD but was on metformin for my fasting levels they had told me they would let me go to 39 weeks my baby wasn't big but I ended up getting preeclampsia and being induced at 38 weeks .

I was but because I had other issues too.

Was induced at 37 +4 after a spike in BP.

I am induced at 38 weeks because they were worried about how large he was. The scans were wrong - he came out a normal size although he did have a large head.

I’m 36 weeks with GD but on metaformin and insulin injections. Been told baby is measuring big so won’t be going past 38/39 weeks and have option of induction of c section - find out today her growth and tomorrow when. Bricking it 🫣🤣

I was diet controlled and would have been induced at 40+4 or 5 I think it was. I wouldn’t have gone past 40 as I would have been too worried I think. Baby made the call and came at 37+5 (I have wondered if harvesting colostrum helped bring on labour as first child born at 40w).

Both my boys were GD babies. DS1 diet controlled, spontaneous labour at 38+4 but was told I could go to 40 weeks provided he wasn't showing excess growth at monitoring scans.

DS2 metformin at 7w, then insulin controlled plus diet and metformin from 20w. I was induced at 38w despite him not showing major growth, but I was also 42 which added to their concerns. I didn't want induction and tried to get to 38 m+4 again but consultant was adamant. Neither were over 7lb.

All of which is to say there will be other risk factors, management, monitoring, and some personal preference involved.

No for DD1, she came naturally 5 days early but there hadn't been any discussion regarding possible induction at that point.

Yes for DD2, induced 3 weeks early due to other risk factors.

Metformin controlled for both.

Yes, induced at 39 weeks with my first (born 39+2), metformin controlled. He was a very average 7lb 1oz.

I was induced with GD at 37 weeks due to baby being large and me being small. He was 9lb 10oz.
