Aftermath of the sweep

So I had a sweep 24 hours ago now. I was 1cm dilated and she could feel my waters. But said my cervix was right back and babies head was still high.

After I had period cramps for majority of the night if I'm honest. Went to bed convinced I'd wake up in labour😂 woke up with no more cramps, then this afternoon I've had slight spotting on my pad, cramps again but nothing major and I just feel sore and heavy.

I had 2 sweeps with my first pregnancy and they both didn't work and I had no spotting or cramps like I have this time

sweeps only work if your body is ready. How many weeks are you?

I had a sweep at 40+1 I had cramping all night, pretty mild but some of it woke me. I was losing plug from about 7am-11am then my waters broke at lunchtime. Baby born at 9:09pm. When they done the sweep they said I was only 1cm and cervix long x

That was how mine started. Had sweep on the Monday morning and she arrived on Tuesday afternoon. After the sweep I just had those heavy low period type pains and they just very slowly intensified over the next 24 hours. I was about 2cms dilated and MW said everything was low and could feel the head etc. I think it only does work if you are ready. Good luck xx

@Ttcmumma wow, that sounds like exactly like my experience. I've been losing the mucus plug since about 1pm let's say and then from 5pm it's been everytime I wipe. A brown, jelly discharge which I'm presuming is the mucus plug?

I'm in the induction list to go in tomorrow and be induced (all being well and they have space. Emergencies ect take priority) so I'm hoping I can just go myself before it comes to being induced. Was induced with my first and it was long leading up to the actual labour process

Goodluck! Hope it happens for you overnight x

The sweep worked. Had my daughter today at 17:09pm. Either the sweep of the fact I had a clary sage bath and then rubbed clary sage into my bump with moisturiser.

Waters broke at 16:27pm and birth was 17:09pm
