Hot Tub

We have our own hot tub and I've been in it every day for the last couple of weeks, it makes a huge difference to my aches and pains. I'm 38 weeks pregnant. People seem to get funny about it and I'm trying to work out why. I know with the communal ones there is possibly a risk of infection and/or overheating but obviously when I can control the temperature (and live in England!) and know it's clean then I cant work out how it could be a problem. Midwife doesn't see an issue. Any thoughts?

Don't tell them? 😂

I'm using our hot tub at home and my OB/GYN is absolutely fine with it. It's lovely just taking the weight off and floating around a bit. I've turned the temperature down to about 35 degrees, which is fine.
Would like a water birth but I don't think it'll happen. Can't do epidural and water birth together. 😁

It's due to the fact that hot tubs are often too hot and the baby can't regulate their own temp. That's why people say you shouldn't go in then, just like a hot bath. When you have a water birth the water is never as hot as say a hot bath is just warm

@StandardSize14 haha it comes from the right place they have just heard/read stuff but can't actually tell me why it's bad.
@Busyhedgehog it's great isn't it, I feel the same about a water birth but there is only one pool at our hospital so chances of availability are slim!
@sarahc336 thanks yeah I've done quite a bit of research on this apparently women in Scandinavian countries use saunas and it's been proven that it's very difficult to raise the core temperature enough to affect the baby. However I'm obviously not sat in a boiling spa it's set at around 36-37 so no danger of me over heating, more chance of that with a hot bath.
