When did you guys first feel baby move?

I’m 18 weeks and not felt any movement whatsoever. It’s really starting to stress me out.

What's the latest people first felt baby begin to move?

It’s my first baby, I am plus sized, incase that information can affect things.

I felt baby move at about 17 weeks I think!

I read that if you're bigger it can take longer for you to feel baby move due to your abdominal wall being thicker. I think the average is 16-24 weeks for first baby so don't panic, you have lots of time.

Hey OP. I’m also plus size with my first baby. Currently 34+4 weeks. I didn’t start feeling ‘butterflies’ of baby movement until around 22 weeks and started seeing movement and feeling a lot more around 24 weeks x

Thank you.
It’s just so worrying, especially when you have to wait for the 20 week scan, just to know whether they are OK or not.

It's really common on first pregnancies to not feel them until 24 weeks. Please don't worry, as easy as it is for me to say that! 18 weeks would be considered early on a first baby to feel them move

BC2603 · 09/06/2024 14:58

I was closer to 20 weeks I think for clear movements

Elisabeth3468 · 09/06/2024 14:58

About 19 and a half weeks with my first pregnancy and was inconsistent for a while x

Thank you all.
I really do appreciate it.

People keep telling me they felt their babies at 15/16 weeks and it’s just made me so worried that something is wrong.

All of these messages are so reassuring.

Somewhere around where you are I started feeling things I thought might be the baby (so hard to know when it's your first one!) but it's only been since 21 weeks that I've had clear noticeable movement

sandorschicken · 09/06/2024 17:44

I think probably about 18/19 weeks for what felt like bubbles and then I remember sitting at my desk at work at about 21 weeks and feeling a very obvious poke which made me say 'oooh' in excitement to the colleague at the side of me!

MiriamMay · 09/06/2024 17:46

I’ve had 3 babies and I never felt any of them move before 20 weeks.

Dogwithtoebeans · 09/06/2024 17:47

I am also plus size - felt proper movements this week (22 weeks) and DH finally managed to feel a kick yesterday too - I was doubting myself or that it was just wind 🤣 but now it’s like there’s a football match going on in the morning and evenings which is lovely to feel 🥰

Emmaev · 09/06/2024 17:49

Im pregnant with our second and didn’t feel her move properly until around 22 weeks due to an anterior placenta. I felt our first born at 16 weeks so I was panicking. But so much comes into it such as baby position, where your placenta is etc.

anonhop · 09/06/2024 17:54

a little bit from 20 weeks (hard to tell if it's baby) + a lot from 22 xx

Peonies12 · 09/06/2024 18:54

Only from 20 weeks, and even then only just noticeable and very irregular. It’s only by 24 weeks you should feel movement. And even after that isn’t really a concern

Negangirlxx · 09/06/2024 19:42

Thank you all so, so much.
It’s really helpful to know that everyone can be so different. Hopefully I’ll be able to relax a little more now.

First baby for me too, felt my first movements at 19+1 but very inconsistent after that with nothing on some days. Only started to feel them much more regularly at about 22 and a half weeks, and they've only got noticeably stronger in the last few days (24+1 now). 18 weeks would be early to feel movement so try not to worry.

readyforroundthree · 09/06/2024 21:51

Dont worry Op, my first baby I didn't feel move until about 19 weeks and back then I weighed around 55-60kg, much lighter than I am now 😄

LizzeyBenett · 09/06/2024 22:31

Didn't feel anything until 21 weeks and even then midwife said don't panic some ppl won't feel anything until 26 weeks

yumyumyumy · 09/06/2024 22:33

I think I was closer to 24 weeks in first pregnancy and not plus sized. In this pregnancy just before 20 weeks. It can also depend where your placenta is located. Mine is anterior and the kicks are padded out.

It will be a fair few weeks yet till you feel him/her jiggling around.

The very first movements to me were so faint I wondered if I imagined it. It felt like a tiny goldfish was somewhere inside down near my groin, blowing little bubbles.

Not like "movement" at all.
