34+3 baby has dropped low!

Hi All, I’m 34+3 and my baby has dropped really low. I’ve got so much space at the top now and she’s now kicking away down there, nothing above my belly button. Is now the time to pack my hospital bag? This is my first baby so I’m not sure if it means she is going to appear anytime soon? I was cramping in the night and had backache. I just want to be prepared! I’ve been nesting all week and can’t stop and now that’s making me think that’s why. Thank you

I think if it makes you feel better, I would pack a bag. It can’t hurt, even if baby doesn’t appear for a few weeks!

Thank you, definitely on my list today then. Asking my partner to gather items I need if I go into Labour won’t have a good outcome!

I’d definitely get your bag ready and keep an eye on those cramps and back pains. Trying to think when I packed mine think about 36 weeks with my first a bit earlier for the other two. Doesn’t hurt to be prepared just in case.
good luck and hope baby stays put for a while yet!

Thank you!! I’m now getting diarrhoea 😩 I’m due to be induced at 38 weeks or c section at 39 weeks so was hoping she’d come before then but not this early

I'd ring triage ASAP for an assessment as 34 weeks is considered early

myfitbitisfucked · 08/06/2024 13:27

i agree with PP I would call the MAU now and get check over.

SirVixofVixHall · 08/06/2024 13:32

Agree you need to seen, just in case you are in labour a bit early.

yellownotepad · 08/06/2024 16:11

Definitely ring triage - the same happened to me and I gave birth at 34 + 5 weeks a few hours later

AimeeLou84 · 08/06/2024 20:52

Went into triage cramping and back pain had stopped by time I went in were happy to discharge me, now it’s started again so just keeping an eye on it. Said it could just be stretching pains preparing me for Labour. Baby was overly active 160-180 heart rate so couldn’t leave til she went down to ‘normal’ 🙄 Think she does somersaults while she’s being monitored. Thanks all!

If you've not already packed it since you posted, I'd definitely recommend doing it asap! I hadn't finished packing mine when my waters went 🥴 running round trying to gather the last bits whilst you've got water none stop coming out of you is really not fun 😅

I’ve got packed what I need for her and myself minus my coming home clothes - need to iron those and hers but that’s least of my worries. Need to just get a sugarfree redbull and snacks 🤣

Had a scan today, have polyhydramnios (it went away now it’s back but I do have GD) so being monitored weekly incase I go into early labour and risk cord prolapse. Just another worry of pregnancy 😩 Cramping and backache seems to have slowed down now but they did say I might have that due to the high fluid level! Thanks for asking x

Hang in there! The last few weeks of being pregnant are very testing. Hope you are managing to get plenty of rest and of curse have that bag completely packed!

Yep that’s all packed now bar a bottle which I’ll have sterilised today. I was up all night with cramping really low and felt so heavy. I am hoping she comes before I have to make the decision of induction or c section however as I have polyhydramnios I’m not sure what’s best 😩

Thats how i started with dc1, he was born at 34+5 and dc2 lasted 3 days more at 35 +1. Both absolutely fine.

Listen to your body and trust your instincts!

Good luck
