Waters or watery discharge

At a loss on what to do so coming to mumsnet for advice before I call triage again 🤦🏻‍♀️
I went to triage a few days ago as had a big wet patch in my pants and I was 37+4 so thought could be waters as I know it can trickle out
I changed my pants after that and had a small wet patch again , so I called as I’m a ftm and have no idea what to expect with waters, they said come in they checked and confirmed was just discharge.
i haven’t had any watery discharge since but had normal discharge as u can tell from ur pants it goes white
but for the last 24 hours I had one big ish wet patch then a few smaller ones I’ll try add pictures but it’s exactly the same from last time so unsure if it’s discharge I’m 38 weeks +3 I would feel very stupid going in again and I was waiting 6 hours last time to be seen..
my question is if it would be waters would it’ non stop coming out consistently as this isn’t consistent like there can be 5 hour gaps between wet patches
??

I thought the advice was to lie down and then see if it gushes when you stand up. But I’d phone back and ask to be seen again, it’s not silly at all, you are full term pregnant and it could well be waters. But if it’s not don’t be embarrassed, loads of discharge is also very common

I’ve gone that and nothing comes out at all, hence why I think just discharge maybe just an increase of it
it mainly comes out when on the birthing ball I think I’ll see how it goes tonight

Are you sure it’s not urine? The pelvic floor isn’t at its best at this stage of pregnancy either!

Gross but I did smell my pants and no smell, but last time when I had this when it was confirmed discharge also had no smell at all seemingly and colour !

Sorry OP I have no advice but I am in solidarity with you! I asked my midwife the main difference the other day and she said it can be almost impossible sometimes to tell the difference especially as discharge does increase towards the end of pregnancy. My discharge also has no smell and can be very watery too- you're not alone in the confusion!

I would go back in and get it checked, better to be safe! Hopefully the wait isn’t as long this time!

When my waters went, it felt very similarly how it feels when my period came unexpectedly. A quick gush and then a trickle from that point until I was induced (didn’t go into labour unfortunately) 48 hours later.

If you are ever in doubt, put on a pad. If you soak it through in an hour, it’s probably your waters!

Update to anyone coming across this i was induced a few days later after a scan showed low fluid around baby, and that this most likeLy was my waters slowly leaking ! Very scary but I was induced as suspected PROM, I was checked when i went to triage about this before but no swabs were done just told looked like discharge…
baby was all well though born nearly 40 weeks
