Early pregnancy after ectopic

Hi everyone.

I had a ruptured ectopic earlier in the year, losing one tube after needing emergency surgery. And the year before I had a TFMR at 17 weeks 😞

I have had some very early, faint positives at 11 and 12dpo. I'm not getting ahead of myself as I know a lot can go wrong! But I'm wondering if anyone knows what I should do if I'm still getting positives in a weeks time, should I go to my GP rather than try and get a normal midwife appointment? I guess I'll need early scans?

Just wondering if anyone who has been through the same has any advice?

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, and I'm obviously always thinking the worst, so I think if I have a plan it might make me feel better.

😊 thanks

Hey! Depending on where you are, you can refer yourself to EPAU directly for a 6wk scan. This is what I did (I'm currently 27wks, previous pregnancy was ectopic, tube removed).
Maybe give your local EPAU a call to ask what the process is?
Fingers crossed for you!

Hi @kjb23 ,

i have recently got my BFP after having a ruptured ectopic removed (28/2). I phoned my EPU directly and they booked me in for a viability scan at 6weeks (on Tuesday, eek!)
My midwife called this week and started my booking in appointment and all being well i go to see her the week after the 6 week scan.
Really hope all goes well for you, i know how anxious a time it is, iv second guessed every twinge so far.

Thanks so much for replying.
My local EPU is a nightmare to get hold of but I'll try next week if all goes well in the meantime!
Congrats on your pregnancy 😊

Hey I had an ectopic in January with my tube removed and am pregnant again at the moment. In January, the epu told me to get referred as soon as possible the next time I'm pregnant. I spoke to gp and they said they don't actually need to refer, you can do yourself.

I rang epu, said I had previous ectopic and I was scanned the next day and thankfully not ectopic but no heartbeat as it's super early.
You'll get confirmation it's not ectopic but you'll still be super anxious like I am at the mo

Hope everything goes okay

Tentative congratulations after everything you’ve been through. I’ve also come into to say phone your EPAU as soon as you feel happy to and they’ll scan you to make sure it’s not ectopic after your history

That was exactly the same day as mine!
I hope everything goes well for you on Tuesday 😊
I'm currently struggling with how often to test, as I figured out it was ectopic last time as there wasn't much progress on the test lines, managing to hold off for every 36 hours atm which is a miracle in itself 🤣

spooky it was same day!
All being well i will be due 02/02/25.
Last time I had a very faint BFP two days in a row then a “period” so i assumed it was a chemical. When i started OPK testing again the following week they were very dark so took a HCG test and it was glaring positive.
EPU said it must have been heavy implantation bleeding but wouldn’t scan until 6w…tests progressed ok (but much darker for the amount of DPO this time 🤞🏻) then just before i hit 6w I got really dizzy and the rest is history.
i definitely have more symptoms this time round.
Im testing every 2nd day and taking a clearblue digital weekly… hopefully hit 3+ weeks tomorrow and then i will stop…. Or maybe i won’t 🙈😂
