Metformin and progesterone during pregnancy

I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant and on metformin for pcos. I take 1500mg a day. Has anyone taken metformin and progesterone while pregnant? I’ve heard progesterone can reduce the effectiveness of metformin. Worried this could cause miscarriage.

I was prescribed both when having IVF. I didn't actually take the metformin for my final (successful) attempt, but no one raised concerns on earlier occasions. I was on progesterone injections and can't remember what dose of metformin, but low I think.

I don't have PCOS but was prescribed it because of something observed in my first treatment. Sorry, very vague but it was a few years ago.

I was i on metformin for PCOS before I fell pregnant and then started on the progesterone pesseries at about 6 weeks. I had an early GD test at 16 weeks so was told to stop taking metformin at around 14 weeks as it could alter results. My test was clear and was told not to take it again. Im now 21 weeks and all fine. I'm on my last packet of pesseries too but I have reduced them to taking it once a day. I'd suggest asking the consultant and/or midwife about taking metformin until GD test just to be safe.

Diabetic so was on Metformin during both my pregnancies and on progesterone too. Never heard of it making anything less effective though...

One baby is now a healthy 2 year old and 32 weeks with the other so clearly not a problem

I have PCOS and have been taking metformin for all the months I've ttc. Same dose as you. After I got pregnant I was on progesterone pills and injections until 12 weeks. I was weaned off metformin slowly, reducing the dose to 1000mg then 500mg and then nothing.
I'm 32 weeks now and still taking progesterone twice a day. It stops at 34 weeks. I'm not sure about your sugar levels but metformin controls insulin. They might stop your dose in a few weeks..
